# 1 My Tribble evaluation
07-07-2012, 09:54 AM
After playing the tholian missions I was a little disappointed, the missions were fun but did not seem to have much in the way of story behind them. Plus playing the ground missions felt more like a star ship troopers game then a star trek game.

I like the character model but there needs to be more story around it in my opinion.

I like the fleet star base and fleet system. The only recommendation i could make there would be to allow fleet marks and fleet credits to be an account wide currency.

I agree for a good mission you need a story to enjoy it and there is point blanc non, how did the invasion start what started it is there a sory at all, plus the missions well mini missions in one mission is kinda bland collect so many of these destroy some of them kill that boss, a story should pick it up a bit.

the fleet starbases are good but could do with being more fun in the way of a conference room for fleet meetings officers quarters for the fleet leaders that the fleet admiral makes for his officers with a quick upgrade and maybe little mini games on the starbase like one for each class that helps towards the SB upgrades.

I'm in agreement with the above two posters. A lot more story integrated with a little more direction would make the ground missions much more enjoyable. In their current instance, they remind me too much of the Defera Invasion stuff, which I don't like. Give me some dialog, a point, and point me in a direction. With all of the "recycled" maps in pretty much everyting used, I'm sure there was plenty of time to spare for a little story writing.

I actually remarked to some others while we were testing that I had no idea why we were killing Tholians or what for. I didn't know why I was supposed to be interrogating them, why we were on Nukara Prime, etc.

Reminds me of defera and i really didnt like the idea of collecting crap and killing loads of enemies for no good reason i.e no real deep story behind it.

Also it bothers me that its a mission with no diplomacy options at all. It is just a beam down then go ooh nasty tholian pew pew pew and collection stuff and grind that. I mean please.. Starfleet would have at least tried to hail them, talk to them before beaming down, try a meeting or somit, and only fight as a last resort if it was really needed. Come on devs stop being pew pew and more talk talk like how its suppose to be. I hate shooting and killing things in sto without at least talking it out first. This isnt cod or bf devs :p

I am hoping that despite what has been released so far, there are some new episodes forthcoming to explain the need for starbases in the eti eridani sector and the reappearance of the tholians as a threat. If they could do it in such a way as to appease the KDF lack of content too -

perhaps something along the lines of klingons seeking to expand their resources for the fight against the feds/remans/romulans/borg etc have been annexing systems which had previously been claimed by tholians. These demon class systems were previously felt too hazardous to be of any strategic benefit, but with the increasing technology in the way of ev suits, personal shields and armor, it is now feasible to begin mining these systems for resources. This has off course ticked off the tholians no end and being a bit of a xenophobic race, rather than just attacking the klingons, they are attacking anyone not tholian. And now rather than sitting back in their own sectors minding their own business, they have taken the "attack is the best form of defense" strategy to heart and are now seeking to expand their own territory into areas they had also deemed unworthy of their presence.

So with that in mind perhaps they could throw in a few KDF specific STF/5 man type missions where they are either defending or retaking their own ground bases against armored tholian ground troops, or trying to capture a tholian base. just spitballing here.. but you know what i mean. something that wouldnt take too much resources to retool from existing missions but give it a klingon flavor. hell they could even resurrect the old first city map as a location of a tholian invasion mission. How does that float your boat klinks?

As it is do I think the incursion map is part of a bigger picture that we haven't seen yet. It has simply been opened to allow testing of various mechanics - the traps of the tholians in the hard exterior mission, the armored ev suits etc.
