The TOS pilot is rejected.
TMP is a critical flop.
The first two seasons of TNG are horrible.
TFF should have killed the franchise.
So should have Nemesis (and Enterprise).
Perpetual goes under.
Cryptic gets bought... twice.
How on Earth is this franchise still alive?

None of that is as bad as you make it out to be CommodoreBob. If Janeway and Voyager didn't kill the franchise, nothing can.

Janeway was the worst Captain ever. I am not being sexist. She played God with people who weren't even part of her crew. It would have been a better show, if they left Tuvok and Janeway marooned, and put Chakotay in charge. Enterprise was the first to actually have the lyrics heard during the opening credits... that is about it. There was nothing inspirational about the show.
About "canon inconsistencies" I was lead to believe from what Picard said in TNG episode "First Contact" that we made contact with the Klingons that led us to a horrible war. Yet in the very first episode of Enterprise we have a Klingon come to Earth and get killed?
So I agree with kobayashlmaru, the series rewrote even the lore of the Captains; Robert April, Christopher Pike, James T Kirk, Willard Decker, and Spock. I was taken by surprise when they said, Jonathan Archer. When I watched the first two episodes I never bothered to watch anything more that followed.
