There is was.....

I can only wish I could play sto on my iPad, but then I'd never get anything done at work.

There I was.......

PuGed into an ISN.

I said, 'hi' as usual.

No response as usual.

I flew over to the first group and start shooting.

I look around all the other ships were missing.

Two oddys had gone left, a kink and a cruser had gone right.

All of them had technicolor rainbow beams.

I think 'oh great'

I got the first group killed but by the time I was done there were probes and spheres everywhere.

None of the other ships were doing much damage and they were shooting the spheres rather than the probes or nodes.

I checked stats, all instant admirals.

I joined in the two on the left side.

I said kill the nodes and probes.

The response was 'Fu noobe.'

I killed the remaining nodes and started on the probes.

Then one of the right side people started yelling that we were all noobes and always supposed to start on the right side.

I typed, 'your supposed kill the entry group before you go left or right.'

He just started in with the usual noobe this and noobe that.

I watched the team screen as everyone was dying over and over again.

I PMed the mouthy guy and said, 'look who the noobe is now' about the 5th time he died.

No response.

About 45 minutes later everything was finally dead.

Two guys took off without their goodies.

I really think that if someone takes off without their goodies they should go to the other players in the puG.

Went into cure space elite. All the players spawned in and headed to the cubes, I got to the middle cube and fired 1 shot at the bops and then my ship decided it was time to leave and warped out of the mission. I found out through pm's with the person who organised the match, that 2 other players also experienced their ships auto leaving. Fortunately no leaver penalty was given. But i'm not sure about the two poor players who were lefted in the match to do it by themselves.

How can you be sure when klink is an instant admiral?
Because, if you check my stats. I'm instant admiral. I just have 4820 points of accolade. I agree that is really poor in spite of I already ran more than 300 STF.

Under 4000 accolade points with technicolor rainbow beams and a DPS that couldn't kill a simple probe and flying an oddy is a dead giveaway. Instant admiral. And I'm not saying the oddy is a bad ship, it just needs to be set up right just like any other ship. Instant admirals are usually clueless on ship setup.

I'm currently conducting an experiment with a second character in a F2P setting which is not in any way connected to my main character other than as a friend for trading. That character has under 400 accolade points and is a lt commander 15. It's doing very few missions but is doing all the doff mission it can. The ship has tremendous firepower compared to ships of the same rank because I'm feeding it from my paid character. I'm also feeding it all the doff officers I can from the paid account.

I don't have time to play constantly so seeing how fast it can rank is out of the question. But overall this character has been going for about ten days. I'm pretty sure I can reach instant admiral within a few days just using the doff missions.

concerning post 711 to 714:

i had about gave up using the computer because i liked the iPad2 so much. this game is what got me back on the computer.

i feel lucky that i do not run into rainbows and skittles as much as some players do. beleive it or not i have seen a couple escorts firing DHC skittles that were not all that bad.

my theory is people repeat what they have heard to make themselves feel better. a guy is called a nood so he calls you a noob. my number one indicator of a fail mission is someone starting with the noob name calling.

instant admirals....i started playing and knew nothing about the game. i had rainbows, weird console set ups, poorly trained officers, etc., but i made admiral very fast. i didn't time it, but it did not take me long.

i have checked around and found a lot of players do not go after accolades, so i'm not sure of how good an idicator accolades are. personally i am very aggressive about getting them.

now for a worst STF experience:

the vault became more difficult after season 6 or so it seems. big ships can't get in which i think was more of a mental crutch than real help in the vault.

i need very few datalogs to upgrade to mk12 on my reman set. i was frustrated after season 6 kicked in because my success rate in the vault really decreased. i noticed players were not aggressive enough primarily and many apparently do not know the objecties.

i stayed up late, tired, to do a round of vault missions one night. no one was getting the objective 32 as i was getting attacked left and right on the otherside. i kept waiting for someone to get 32. i stated "no one knows the objectives?" no reply. i just set there and started explaining how the vault should be done.

one guy tells me to shut up and to start shooting. i explained we were going to lose because no one was taking care of 32 and time was running out.

sure enough we lose without getting 32 remodulated. the worst vault ever.

Yes, but you don't run rainbows. If I see rainbows, I check accolades. Low accolade oints+rainbows= noob. That's all there is to it.

Just lost KASE, first time in months.
I don't care for optionals if the setup isn't right, but I care for completing STFs.

So I did what I usually do, after Tac Cube move to one side, destroy probes, pop 1 gen, drop 1, wait for 2nd probe wave. Destroy Probes, pop 2nd gen, destroy cube, then probes again, repeat on next transformer.

After I figured out that I literally nuked all 4 cubes alone, I was wondering what would come next. I don't mind bad players who at least try to play a STF, but what I don't like are sissies. So one player suddenly decided to declare the STF unfinishable, because he would do the probes all alone, which he was wrong with. Flying away as far as he could, one side suddenly lost its "probe duty" ... (and I didn't watch, cause I already destroyed probes on one side and worked on the gateway)
In the end, KASE lost, wasting 15 minutes for nothing, because one decided selfishly.

On the bright side, now I know for sure, one player can finish KASE nearly alone, if another player on the other side just watches probes, doing nothing else.

how close minded.

I couldnt care less about accolades, so im a noob? lol

ok ok I admit ONE of my 7 toons did the accolade grinding a little. but it is so damned tedious, that I refuse to do it with the rest. They give you poop bonuses.

It is silly for people to look at accolades for a sign of a players 'noobness', maybe not all of us want to waste so much time on so little.

I think ill rainbow it up and change my ship to the I.K.S. Trololol

I don't think it's close minded at all. And you have to read the whole post. Low accolade doesn't necessarily mean Noobe. Low accolade + rainbow/technicolor/skittles + some high dollar shiny poster board ship status symbol like an oddy = noobe. Few veterans would equip a ship with rainbow/technicolor/skittles even on a different toon unless he just wants to farm or run hide like many that I've seen.

I've done thousands of STF space, almost no grounds. The rainbow technicolor skittle weapons are epidemic. There are a few builds can actuall make them work but not many.

Honestly, I just use accolades to see how long a player has played the game. If you have played for less than 2 weeks, you will naturally have a low score. I have 5k on my fed main over a period of 3 months not even trying. I don't even bother checking accolades unless I see a mouthy person accomplishing very little or a rainbow boat that ignores whatever is in chat.
