Its not so difficult to idle in the channel actually. If there has been a discussion then you can always join in when you get back from idle. For anyone looking for a Mac client then Snak has a 30 day trial.

If you are worried about missing things that are stated in channel by one of the devs, don't worry. Pretty much anything said in there has found its way back here. Anything important would definitely find its way back. More often than commenting, one of the devs may ask a question to stimulate discussion, Zinc said to me in there one day that our opinions are listened to and used as a source of ideas and inspiration.

Its also becoming another community within the greater STO community. Come along and make some friends you'll probably meet again in game later on.

The trivia being held here is awesome news, thanks Awen. I hope its a real success. /tiphat

Friendly IRC tip for IRC newbs...

If you are using the handy web based IRC linked above, you can chance your nickname on the first screen it shows you so you don't enter the room as mib_233212 or whatever it gives you.

Barring that, once in the room you can type /nick newnick to change to something else, such as your forum nick.

Of course change newnick to whatever you would like.

Yeah I haven't been hanging in there THAT much but tonight seemed to be a huge increase once Awen said she would be hanging in there.

I've seen links here for Windows and Linux IRC client software, thought I'd throw some love to the apple crowd
