With the Defiant, I have found that using any beams or DHCs not to be worthwhile. Mainly because Beam Overload siphons so much power, that the cannon attacks will be very weak while your weapon power recharges after doing a massive blast while throwing volleys of DHC shots. I've found running 3-4 DCs work best to keep the weapon power drain to a minimum allowing the cannons to do their maximum damage, and they fire faster too for more chances at crits/borg procs.

I normally run this and it works very very well in Elite STFs and the Fleet engagements.

Quad Phaser (If you have it, if not substitute with Dual cannon), 2 DCs, 1 Quantum Launcher
3 Turrets in the back

CMD Tac: Tactical Team 1, Cannon Scatter Volley 1, Cannon Rapid Fire 2, Omega
LT CMD Tac: Tactical Team 1, Cannon Rapid Fire 1, Torpedo Spread 3
Ens Tac: High Yield 1
LT Eng: EPTS1, RSP1
LT Sci: Polarize Hull 1, Hazard Emitters 1

Doff: 2 Cannon, 1 Torp, 2 Shield Dist

I also use the Borg Eng and Deflector for the 2 and 3 piece borg set with Maco MK XII shield. Higher resists on the shield and you have the auto hull and shield regen procs.

[Unrepentant] Lapo@overlapo: the problem with space STF
is that you can't properly teabag your defeated opponent

Unrepentant: Home of the Rainbow Warrior and the Rainbow Brigade.

LT CMDR Tactical - Torp Spread 1, Cannon Rapid Fire 1, Attack Pattern Delta (Considering changing this to another Cannon buff)

ENS Tactical - Torpedo High Yield 1

LT Engineering - Engineering Team 1, Emergency Power to Shield 2

LT Science - Science Team 1, Polarize Hull 2
This really isn't the best build. 3 Different Teams all share the same cooldown, which is not good. Tac Team 2 & 3 are a bit of a waste of valuable higher level abilites. The main reason people use Tac Team is to auto redistribute shields.

Tac Team 1 > Cannon Rapid Fire 1 > Attack Pattern Omega 1 > Cannon Rapid Fire 3
Tac Team 1 > Beam Overload 2 > Attack Pattern Omega 1
Torp High Yield 1

Emergency Power to Shields 1 > Reverse Shield Polarity
Polarise Hull 1 > Hazard Emitters 2

Tac Team 1 x 2, Cannon Rapid Fire x 2. Use 1 of each together. They will come off cooldown together. This is why you only have two teams now.

Delta is a defence pattern, if you really want it replace an Omega with it, Beta would be better but.

I noticed your very single target orientated so I kept that going, EPtS is your shield buff, run a purple Damage Control DOFF and you should be able to use it every 30s. Almost as good as two. Reverse Shield is useful when your targetted by a lot of things, When you use this you need to be thinking of an escape plan.

I left Polarise Hull in because your probably going to change one of the Omegas and you'll need an escape. Polarise Hull 2 offers no real advantage over 1 where as Hazard Emitters 2 is not only a good heal, but it clears up hull fires and Shield drains.

None of your abilities overlap now, Relying on Sci Team and Eng Team means in a pinch you need to choose hull or shields. And in a pinch you need both. Omega, the Cannons and Tac Team do of course but you have two copies so you can rapid fire every 15s.

I highly recomend dropping the beam or the Torpedo and putting in a second high yield or overload depending on how you go. Remember Beam overload drops weapons power and will reduce your DPS. I also recomend going to Quantum Torpedoes as they have a far better kick than Photons, when coupled with a High Yield.

If I ask you a question it is not an insult but a genuine attempt to understand why.
When I insult you I won't be discreet about it, I will be precise and to the point stupid.

I have removed my Beam Overload as I did notice the siphon of power when in use. I use the Deal Beam for the arc, I am considering replacing it with a Standard Borg Mk XII ANtiproton Cannon as it too has the wide arc and doesn't loose much in raw DPS. Would that be a better option over the beam?

I was running the Aegis set and then swapped over to the Borg set and just now I scored the Prototype Shield Requestion and went and got the Omega Shield MK XII.

Thank you very much I retrained my bridge officers to what you suggested and so far I am liking the results. Kind of missing the engineering team but I'll manage without it after all I am an escort designed to give the damage.

As for why I was using the photons was due to the fast reloads and the raw DPS which I felt was important to a escort. I do normally run Quantums. I have swapped to a quantum and will be testing it out shortly.

Do you think it matters much if I did away with the Torpedo all together and replaced it with another cannon?

Running 3 DHC's and 1 DBB would be fine, just change the Torp High Yield to Beam Overload.
