But you will get the special......if you want

What time zone are you in? We typically have activity in most with members in the EU and North America covering a lot of the in game clock when they should be working or sleeping.
Um... special? Do I even want to know? I'm in Eastern Standard or GMT -5, take your pick. I was on last night between 10:30 pm and 1 am and the chat said 1/2, whatever the hell that means. I'm not a social butterfly, so I'm trying to learn that part of the game's interface at the same time. There were about 6 or 7 Unrepentant members online according to the social? button. I didn't want to just try to PM someone; first off, I'd probably fail. Secondly I hate spammers, and in this case I'd be the opposite of those jerks who constantly bombard the chat with fleet recruitment garbage.

I've been online pretty much on a daily basis since '98. You'd think I'd know these things by now...

Um... nevermind about the 1/2 thing. Its /channel _Join Unrepentant, probably created by some social noob. That "Are you a new applicant? Start here!" thread should probably be fixed so it's less confusing. I found the right channel (I think) but nobody's talking, and the numbers of people in the channel and Unrepentant members online don't match up. Apparently as I type this there are 11 members in chat but only 5 online. Wait, what? How does that work? Xero is NOT happy. Far too much confusion.

Damn. This is turning out to be a lot more of a hassle than I thought.

Uh, anyways, I stalked some dude around the sector and 'convinced' him to send me an invite. Actually it was more like begging. Whatever. I'm in. Great. Now I've got a whole new set of problems. Why do Perfect World and Cryptic have to make everything so complicated?

So as one used to things not working the way I expect, I would normally save my harassment, er teasing, Oh I meant hazing for your app, that I haven't taken time to look at yet because of real life..... oh oops ranting... Anyway ..

We have a few archytypes in our large troop of crazies, I oughta know. I do not think we have a droopy drawers cartoon icon in our group and you may do good at this. I am the crazy morale occifer, and a polar opposite saying "it will never work." actually can be a fit!

So consider this classic cartoon charechter, I spose I need to get off my aft and look at your app. Hopefully it is more fleshed out than some and my fellow wackos are taunting you appropriatly inappropriatly.

Any others got something to say? Bring it!

RC, what the hell are you on, and where can I get some?

Xero, no idea what the source of your problems were, but assuming you wound up in the correct Unrepentant channel, you should see some activity once in a while. Some folks prefer voice chat, some folks might just be busy shooting things, some folks might be off in a team chat of their own. Depending on what folks are doing it could seem dead or there could be a good amount of folks just BSing. We encourage folks to put forth their own effort in getting involved too, whether its inviting people on some sort of run, asking to join one someone else is trying to set up, or hell just asking random questions about the game.

My problem is that I'm a social noob. That's pretty much it. I've never even bothered to explore the social aspects of the game until about a week ago, and you gotta admit there's a lot of buttons involved. The vast majority of my time online for the last 15 years or so has been me playing solo, no matter what game or site I was on. There's only one exception to that and that was on a site designed so kids and geriatrics could figure out what to do. STO is a bit more complicated.

I'm like way out of my comfort zone here. Just look at the words I use; I probably sound like the bastard child of some random stoner comedy from the 90's and a grammar-Nazi. Which I totally am. When I ask people what they're talking about in League of Legends, I get accused of trolling... because I don't know the same crap a 10 year old idiot knows.

Next thing you know I'm going to be chasing kids off my lawn with a cane. But I guarantee you I won't be wearing pants when I do it.

@raincrow1st - Do share. And don't forget to stop by the recruitment thread in the other forum - I dropped a Gossip Girl video bomb.

Gossip Girl is so gossipy.

I guess there are kind of a lot of buttons to go through for the ingame social stuff. I never really paid much attention to doing anything with it really. When I do need to use it, though, I'm always like "where the hell was that feature again?" and I have to click around for a while.

We're a more-or-less mature group of gamers... in that many of us are in our late 20s... and 30s... some 40s... many of us know how to type and we've seen 90s stoner comedies!

To be perfectly honest, I can't wait to be sitting on a porch and yelling at kids to get off my lawn. That's one of my retirement goals.

That list is depressing, RC

Thanks for finally stopping by, but no tailpipe kissing. I had a bad experience with truth-or-dare as a teenager and ended up with my buddy's hairy nipple in my mouth. That was enough of that crap for a lifetime. Thanks to you I think I'll just go ahead and have nightmares for the next week or so; should be self explanatory in the other forum.

And you'd better like the llamas. You owe me now .

Hey Chappos.

Are noobs welcome in this fleet thing?

I'm not quite sure what I'm doing yet. But I have a ship, and it's got a couple of guns for shooting other ships. if that helps...

Oh, I'm also willing to work for free at the start, to prove myself and learn. I'll also make the teas and coffees for anyone for the first month!
