Well yeah sure I can do that (& do), but that was just an example from the show. A few animations to distinguish the different defensive and offensive Buffs would be better than the Christmas tree light we currently have,

Perhaps if there were some way to do it without inhibiting gameplay?
I do think it would be cool to have more crazy attack/evasive patterns available, like ones involving loops and barrel rolls for smaller ships like the Defiant-class escorts. I'm not sure exactly how to fit that into the game, though, unless they were evasive maneuvers only and were new BOFF abilities or perhaps came with a new C-Store ship's special console (but...ick...another "must-have" universal console taking up a slot...mmm...dunno about that one) or became available upon the usage of a special DOFF or by gaining enough experience in, say, Engineering through DOFF missions. That last option means you don't have to give anything up, I like it.

Loops and barrel rolls would be nice, but having dealt with creating 'dynamic maneuvering' AI for a certain space combat RTS a lot of players complained about the disorientation and a reduced ability to control ship positioning.
The disorientation is due to this fact - not everyone can appreciate the vast speeds and distances of actual 3D space flight and making Homeworld into an Orbiter-style Newtonian sim just doesn't work unless you like to sit through the game, do nothing but target weapons and watch the fireworks.
As above-posted, when I activate attack pattern omega 3 I will just fly in from nowhere at impressive speed, slow to 1/4 impulse at close range and blaze away with DHCs.
Pattern delta in my STO rendition is a cruiser, being out-turned by the enemy doing a "Crazy Ivan" type move to make the target overshoot and retaliate with torpedo salvoes. Pile on a few other self-defined boff power sequences and I think you'll be amazed by just what you can show off to fleetmates esp. if voice comms are used.
You can recreate Sisko's "Attack pattern omega 4" or create totally new patterns like "attack pattern diarrhea III" on the fly and get wingmen to do the same for maximum epicness.
In short... I don't mind the lack of animations. Do them yourself
