2nd : Please read before call Noob or something like that.
Ok.I mean I cant left behind to defend Kang to go attack to cubes.Because damnit enemy ships has too much explosive damage when they r destroyed and attacking like the hell kamikazes even bird of prey too...So always need to come back from cube to help them to cover and dieying sometimes at way.And got 15 mins oh boy:/Its getting to annoyed a bit.Its not a feedback but maybe some1 could give any hint-tip or whatelse...
Five players can easily complete the elite STFs. You should probably try running it on normal a few times to get the hang of it first though.
I don't much like running Cure, but the usual plan seems to be for two to stay and protect the Kang and the other three go to take down the launch bays (one per launch bay). There are, of course, other tactics though.
If the exploding ships are killing you, you probably need to stay further away from your targets.
All you need is 5 players who know what to do.
First of all, it is possible to defend Kang with one ship. i've done at least 50 times. You need an escort ship, with DHC -s on the front and turrets on the aft. The BOPs cant even touch kang.
Then you need the right tactic: mrrml (middle, right, right, middle, left)
1.: 4 ships take out the middle nanite probes+neghvar+raptor
2.: 4 ships take out the right side nanite probes+neghvar+raptor
3.: 4 ships take out the right side cube
4.: 4 ships take out the middle cube
5.: everybody rush to take care left neghvar spawn
6.: do probes then cube
Of course you need a lot of firepower, so bring as much escorts as possible.
Note: This only works if everyone on the team is working together and you planned this out beforehand. If you join a random team, most of the time there will be 1 or 2 people that won't listen and it won't work.
The best way I've found to do it is to have one person defend Kang. Then the other 4 players kill stuff in this order:
1. 4 Players attack Middle probes
2. 4 Players attack Right probes
3. 4 Players attack Right cube
4. Everyone defend Kang
5. 4 Players attack Middle Cube
6. Everyone defend Kang
7. Everyone attacks Left probes and then cube
This is how we do it in my fleet where everyone knows and follows the plan. We usually finish with around 3-4 minutes left on the Optional.
Edit: Ahh damn, sniped by the post above me. At least we have the same plan though^^
there's also the '1/1/3' tactic- 1 guy at middle and left cube covering spawn, and three guys at right cube covering spawn while dealing with cube. There's also another tactic: five guys in voquvs
When in doubt, (hehe) c4!
This sig dedicated to the many random objects the Mythbusters crew has blow to smitherines
That's not a very efficient strategy for Cure Elite.
Mentioned above, the best strategy is the MRRML or RMMRL Strategy, where 1 strong defender guards the Kang from BoPs from 2 Cubes, while the others take down one cube, then rush to take out the Raptors from the second wave, then quickly take down the second cube. Then everyone converge on the final cube for the win.
If you're in a PUG and none of the above tactics seem to work, or if the team are all in space whales and have absolutely no DPS, you can also win by just blocking all the Birds of Prey and slowly sniping away all the nanite probes from under the cubes.
You can snipe them with impunity from 9.9km somewhere below while simultaneously blowing up BoPs.
When all the nanites are out its time to work on demolition.
If you are able to do a coordinated assault on all 3 cubes, bring them to 10% then simultaneously detonate, all the merrier.
If not, blow one at a time, deal with the Raptor and Negh'var spam and cross fingers. The inability to manage the swarm (or one person blowing a cube too early and team unable to cope) is what kills the game for most PUG Elite Cure runs.
If you can get a fleet or a solid team that can do CSE well and with correct ship types (5 Escorts recommended for this DPS heavy map as above-posted), then you will have much less stress and more fun.
Even in a PUG you -will- want to be in an Escort as most of the time you see a lot of low DPS ships that sadly shouldn't be there on this map. An escort has a lot of damage potential to cover for teammates and if you can solo one side, that means the rest of the 4 teammates can be dispatched to secure their own ends of the map.
Don't take the discrimination between Hi and Low DPS players personally. Elite STF maps -are- built and balanced for DPSers and a full team of PUG cruisers can have a hell of a time completing the mission in like... 45 minutes to an hour breaking out cold sweat every time a Negh'var appears and starts blowing up teammates in one shot. Not optimal obviously.
STF Flight Instructor since Early 2012. Newbies are the reason why STO lives and breathes today. Do not discriminate.
