If you can't do enough dps as a cruiser, you're just doing it wrong. Cruisers aren't escorts, but they're not helpless simply because they're not escorts. If you need 3k dps to get the job done, then it doesn't matter if you have 5k or 15k dps. You still get the job done. So in a way, escorts are just a waste of offensive abilities...

I have finished all red alerts accolades being in my Excelsior retrofit because of the transwarp ability.
She was fitted with mk11 stf weapons + the full retro borg set and most of the time i was grabing agro off everyone else.

On the other hand, you may have found players who are after the maximum number of kills for their accolades and DGAF of the boss and leave it be so it can spawn more probes.

edit : and please, you don't say cruisers need RCS console, a cruiser is here to tank and give broasides 6 to 8 weapons at once so it does not need to turn fast to circle around it anchor target.

We're talking about Fleet Alerts, not the Borg Red Alerts you seem to be referring to.

What are you even talking about? I wasn't suggesting to fly a cruiser like an escort; I was saying how you can improve the turn rate on one if you wanted to.

Furthermore, telling people how to improve their turn rate is far from trolling. Trolling means intentionally disrupting other members' enjoyment of the forum (or the game), which is not what I was doing. I was taking part in a conversation. Please take your accusations elsewhere.

Or buy yourself a good defiant. No one is forced to fly on a cruiser, and the number of tacs making this mistake is really impressive.

My Regent has a personality crisis, it thinks it's an escort, fitted out with Mk XII cannons and turrets with a Dual Beam Bank and 180 ARC Quantum and Chroniton Aft launcher. It runs rings around Oddys and can take a shed load of flak with no healing and small resist. it hardly ever dies and can destroy most escorts. I'm taking it for counselling later because it's obviously doing something wrong

It's the build that counts, yeah the Regent can be made very very offensive and still tank if you know what you're doing, however most other cruisers can be up there too if built correctly (including skills) so I don't agree with the OP, what I believe is people need to try harder and learn the nuances of build mechanics.

The only ships I have that hit harder are my Armitage and finally my JHAS although i don't really count the latter as it's not a ship most can have access to.
