The pieces may be in bad cosmetic condition from exposure and being stripped down but what others may see as desecration I see opportunity.
Most of the "structural" pieces are intact and just need a minimum of cleaning up. Props and details can be refurbished and/or remade.
It would be enjoyable to be part of the rebuilding process or contribute to it by way of donations. My other IRL hobby is purchasing unwanted crap motorcycles and reconstructing them into mean little street racers with none of the drawbacks of the original machine and all the benefits of current automotive tech (albeit redneck engineered).
The remade bridge likewise can use this opportunity to be a clean slate and make improvements as desired.
Rather than spending $100 or so a year on MMO games I'd rather donate $1,000 to TNS and not waste my time on petty squabbling in STFs and fleets
STF Flight Instructor since Early 2012. Newbies are the reason why STO lives and breathes today. Do not discriminate.
Wow, how could they do this to something so iconic? TNG was my 2nd Fav Star Trek Series, but the bridge was my favourite bridge out of all of them, they could have left it and put it in a museum or something, not do this!
such a shameful waste of memorobilia, good luck to those restoring.
i remember seeing an interview with patrick stewart after they had completed generations and he said as he was walking out of the studio he looked at one of the big dumpsters outside and there in it was the conference table from the Enterprise-D in 2 pieces, even then he said something like that could of been auctioned for charity, i nearly cried when he said that they destroyed such a beautiful table..
