If nothing else, just re-orient the warp out effect so I don't fly right through a star or
bounce too close to a supernova because that'd end my trip real quick, wouldn't it?
That's what the spinning ship of hilarity was supposed to do, just reorient the ship so it didn't intersect an object prior to warp out. It worked when it was first patched into the game. Some patch along the lines broke it to its current 'wtf' state. But it did work, for a little while.

Having the warp out effect at DS9 is seriously stupid though. It's not like when you beam back to your ship that you're going to warp into one of the docking pylons. you have a clear shot right ahead of you. Same for ESD.
Hell, I remember before they put it in that there was the occasional time where the ship would correct itself so it didn't warp into a planet, and many others where it did anyway. I enjoyed it more when it did just to see the fact that it did.

Is this any big shock? I honestly wonder at times if they've got a group of monkeys poking random keys in the coding department. Although, ever since I gave up expectations I have been much happier
when i heard about the invisa torps fix i did a backflip of joy, then hopped onto ise... just to get one shotted twice in the same match. i now share your philosophy. sadly, i have yet to see a pot by any of the people working code, even though other devs regularly post here.

Its only been around for a bit over a year. It's because people complained that their ships were warping though planets. Can't please everyone.
Very true, you cant please all of the people all of the time, however trying to fix something that is aviodable without a coders intervention is dumb and a sheer waste of time.
If you dont like warping through things, then just orient the ship yourself before hitting "Leave System".
I lost count of the amount of ships, asteroids and planetary atmospheres I warped through last night.
I know this is only a small "bugette" and there are much more serious faults in the game, but as someone has already said some off us like to get lost in the fantasy of trek, when your ship comes to a crashing halt and spins round quicker that a fighter it kind of destroys the immersion.

The previous warp-out effect was perfect, so not sure why they changed it to the current one. And also with the last one, sometimes had nice camera angles prior to warping out and felt like it was from the movies.
So hopefully they go back to the previous model.
One other nice touch that might be nice, is a musical score that ramps up to the warping. (STO really need some more music in it).
