That would have been nice. It would have been a DPS ship with limited healing/support abilities, the kind of thing that would have been useful for someone wanting to play their Escort as an actual escort, meant here as a ship that supports bigger and more expensive ships.

I guess you didn't note the bit where it said that you only get the discount if you own a tier 5 C store version of the ship that you purchased from the C Store.

the fleet ships should have been the ships we have always had, some at tier 5 for the first time, just with more interesting station setups that weren't intended to be better then any non fleet ship. and they all should have cost a single ship token

I don't know that I'd say a single ship module for all of them, but I will agree that I find it damn tough to justify spending the equivalent of $20 just to drag a tier 2/3 ship up to near-tier 5 specs. I'll very likely be bumping my Defiant, because it will only cost me the one. But my 'Old Fleet' escort isn't getting an extra $20 console slot, and my Sci toon's RSV is probably not getting an extra $20 Tac console slot.

Why even have shipyard tiers if everything costs the same? There's a tiered shipyard, there ought to be tiered pricing, as well. The ships that don't require modules all cost $200,000 FC. The ones that do all cost 4 modules and $200,000 FC, with the only discount given if you've already paid them $20 for a 5+1 VA ship. And they are all per-character unlocks.

Not exactly tempting me to spend money here, PWE. Some cities have a Dollar Store. You apparently have a $20 Store. I'd appreciate it at this point if you stopped using the term 'micro transaction' in any of your official literature, since you've apparently been rolling in the Benjamins so long that you've forgotten what it means.

the fleet ship price really is indefensible, the cookie cuter station setups, some ships being laughably bad wile other hilariously overpowered, its a mess that looks full of place holders.

only 2 ships interest me in the fleet system, the fleet ktinga and fleet vorcha. the standard vorcha was the best cruiser imo, at could do everything a federation cruiser could do, wile turning 3 to 4 points beter, and being able to equip and use effectively escort weapons with 2 turn consoles. the ktinga is the vorcha turned up to 11, literally and figuratively. its got an 11 turn rate, and an effective shield mod of 1.07. whoever loves flying the vorcha R will love the F ktinga.

the fleet vorcha is the funnest thing to fly in game imo. theres just enough cruiser to go with a whole bunch of escort all in 1 package to have the best qualities of each. both i have purchased and am very satisfied with, regardless of price, they are a ton of fun to use. the price is still indefensible, per character.

in case anyone was wondering, the non fleet somraw retrofit has a .8 shield mod. with the eng ENS, the 16 turn rate, the compactness and the pivot point being fine... id rather use it then a stranded qin. oh its still worse then a fed escort sure, but some of the more innate problems with the qin arent a problem with the somraw.

I MIGHT have to give that one a shot. I ground out the dils to buy a Qin for my engi when I leveled him a couple months back, since it seemed like it might be fun, and I could just copy my favorite boff layout from my Defiant.

This was, of course, before I knew that it turned like it was attached to the end of a broomstick. I found out about half an hour later, and haven't played it since. The pivot bug (working as intended) in the Qin is terrible.

I love the Gladius, and despite the printed stats, I decided to get the Fleet Escort Retrofit. Before I switched out from my Tactical Escort Retrofit, I noted my hull and shields. When I placed everything the same in the new escort, it was actually a little better. I tend to use RCS consoles in my escorts, and the Fleet Gladius was turning like a B'Rel. I decided to take the console out so I could add a Point Defense console, and she's a great ship!

I am wondering what other fleet ships are great, but have a bad (invalid) descriptor?

so far its every fleet ship or more basic retrofit that is tier 5 for the first time. so defiants, vorchas, star cruisers are all as advertized.

Heh, I'm just sitting back and laughing at Feddies talking about how their escorts aren't strong enough, while KDF BoP pilots make do with the Hegh'ta/B'rel and eventually the Fleet Hoh'sus (admitted an improvement) and Fleet Norgh/Ning'tao. Sure, we've got 1-2 decent destroyers and the vorcha, but none of those have 5 effing tac consoles. Yet you people are casually talking about 'balancing' a Fed escort by having 5 tac consoles.

Funny stuff ITT.

I'm a Trill Engineer and use the Fleet Saber for Elite STFs... works nicely as a cannon boat for me. Then again, I'm pretty good at surviving with Escorts as an engineer.

I can't vouch for the build I use for PVP but then again I'm not usually doing PVP.
