# 1 Tactical odyssey

Hello guys, i would like to check something with you that use this ship.

I am actually talking about its ablity to launch aquarius escort.

I found that in Events, Advanced or Elite missions, STFs and PvP that thing is next to useless.

I was playing a cluster mission on elite, a random ship pops torp spread and 1shots it...
In STFs if it doesnt get 1shoted by a random beam it will explode along with an exploding cube for example.

In events it sometimes pulls things it is not supposed to etc.

Also if it dies i have no way of knowing but to look for it.
I tried to heal it but then again it is wasting a heal because heals are too important, they could go on me or a team member...

We dont have a way of controlling it either.

So in general it causes more problems then it solves!

Dont get me wrong, i love the odyssey and that little guy but just simply placing it and selling it on ZEN is not enough you know...

Lack of control and insane lack of survivability disappoints me and i believe all other players that have spent their money on this.

The problem around this could be solved by adding a simple action bar with simple commands, like:
Attack | Stop attack | Aggressive | Defensive | Passive modes

And perhaps 1 Hull heal and 1 EMtS on it.

This should not be hard to do and it is definitely needed.

All of this is from my experience and my opinion, please share yours.

Aquarius is not an "AutoWin" button. It's a sweet bonus to gather players attention to buy ship. If you want control than go for carrier. ( carrier>odyssey)

i got the oddy set and equipped all the special consoles on the ops oddy. my tac oddy is a killing machine. all weapons all the time.

i rarely use the aquaris, although for it's size it does not do too bad. since i have it on my ops oddy i typically use hull separation instead.....much more kick there.

i would remove the aquarius and put in a useful console.

I tend to leave them all on for this simple reason.

25% recharge time reduction to the Odyssey Console Set
+12 Starship Hull Plating

The Aquarius escort console gives you a ship exactly like the lolquarius failstroyer in the shipyard. For it's tier, it blows, it's squishy, and as you said, it's AI don't work so good. Also it's damage isn't high enough to make it worth it. I agree with rdm, just take it off and put something more useful on, like an assimilated universal console or a field generator.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.

I have to disagree with the above user. The Aquarius does have usefulness but like the Odyssey it self, its about knowing when to use it and when not to. If you are a player who has managed to output decent DPS in the Oddy, the death of the Aqua will occur less frequently.

First, its a combat pet which means it's meant to be a bit of a redshirt compared to the main vessel. In fact combining it with other space combat pets (ie. Scorpion Fighters) will actually increase its longevity as enemy targets will spread firepower more.

Second, the best time to really use the Aquarius console is to wait until a target has low or no shields before deployment. Then the little escort will drastically up it's deadlyness as it works very well against unshielded targets. An easy way to tell the difference is to see the synergy it has against shielded vs unshielded borg targets like a Tactical cube. It lacks the ability to really effect the Borg shields but it will do great damage against direct hull.

Thirdly, it's a great trash mob clean up ship. It's PDS console and Quad cannons means it will take care of annoying spam mobs like Frigates or Fighters allowing you to focus on that dreadnought in the background.

Lastly, as has been pointed out pretty much every where, this is not an "I win" button. It is meant to compliment your ship's DPS levels. The Oddy is not a carrier, this is really meant to be treated as a power like Beam Overload or Scatter Volley.

forget the aquarius and use the saucer as pet

the big point of Odyssey is you get rid of the saucer (to hell if it dies) and stay alive during the fight... and give the maximum damage you can

Lets throw away your assumption that i am a noob and stick to the facts.

AI is bad, we get no control over it and its very squishy.
In PvP i am able to tank up to 3guys in most situations and in pve i can tank negh, raptor and a cube with little or no assistance from my team mates and on my dps i am mostly top, i have played many space games before including STBC and that kinda stuff.

So please, lets talk about aquarius and not say: "its a win button"

Im trying to discuss the aquarius itself, about its AI, needed action bar for it, and perhaps just a bit more survivability...

right?

Personally, all I use of the Odyssey 'Aquarius' is the bridge. :)

I use chevron separation myself. Saucer can die easily too, but, unlike Aquarius escort, its boon lies not so much in the saucer itself, but rather in the improved mobility/weapons buff of your main vessel. In that sense, chevron separation is like the D'Kora battle-mode console (but with a visual extra component: namely, a separated saucer). If the saucer happens to get off a few useful shots too, great! If not, no biggie either.

Ok, putting aside my previous comment (even though I stand by it), I will agree to return to the original topic. EVERYTHING needs an improvement. The AI is terrible, I agree, the ship itself is not nearly as useful as it could be, and as for controlling it, or if not controlling then directing it, yes, that could be useful. After all it, is an ESCORT, so it might as well do it's job better by being where it needs to be, when it needs to be there, and not get popped on route to said location.

Basically on OP, I agree. MAKE IT BETTER OR GO HOME.

XD
