Thanks SO MUCH for all your support, and we'll see you in-game!
Back in the beta the price of the LTS was $250, now it's $300 and free to play. I know crytic had a LTS sale awhile ago for $200, a pricepoint, I ultimately decided against. Considering STO is a f2p game, and we're around the half life of the game, I decided it's overpriced. Also, I had a gold membership so all my bank + inventory is maxed out, and I bought the one billion EC wallet, so I basically have all the advantages of a gold member right now.
I want to support STO, but the price of the LTS has to come down to a more appropriate level.
Currently the LTS is not worth it and this is coming from a Lifer that got their LTS the day it first came out in Open Beta. Considering that you have the advantages of a gold member, then the only use a LTS has is veteran rewards and the liberated borg race. Those benefits aren't worth $200 IMO. If I was a person looking into getting a LTS right now, then I would take more consideration than I did when I bought it right now. Basically, I saw myself playing the game years later and decided it was worth the investment. Therefore, it might be in your best interests to not purchase the LTS even if it comes down in price. If you have money to burn, then go for it. Otherwise, use it on more important things.
If you want to support STO, then there is the C-Store and Master Keys.
Why buy a LTS when you can play the entire game for free now......as others have pointed out $300 for a monthly stipend and a toon borg is very steep indeed....and with the silly prices on the zen store you could by what with the montly stipend....... 2 ships a year. lol
Save yourself a lot of cash and stay ftp..........i mean do you really want to reward the people who run this game for making STO The grind lockbox fest. lol

I feel the same way, however, a bunch of lifetimers cannot keep the game around in the long run. You need a steady income as a basis. Given the price for LTS is so high, and only supports the game in the short term, I now buy Zen every month instead. That said, I am that cheap, that I no longer am a Gold member. For me, it?s way more priceworthy to just buy Zen one or two times a month.
What I am curious about, is when you say the game is: "around the half life"... What/how do you mean??
Then dont buy a LT sub. Buy some zen every month, then whenever something comes along that you want you'll already have enough.
I have all the ships/outfits I want, I also have hundreds of millions of ec. I'm on the other side of the f2p endgame, the only way to make money off of me now is the LTS.

What I meant was that we are around the midpoint of the games life, IMO of course. I don't see it going much longer than three more years, it can even end much sooner depending on the profits (or lack of) STO generates.

Considering they put out around $300.00 worth of C-Store items each year, not including Lockbox items, it's unlikely that you won't be buying additional things over the next year+. Cryptic is going to get money out of you one way or another. If you're a Trek fan you can't help but buy your favorite geek-moment Trek thing.

Same old DOOM arguments. I remember those all the way back from 1 month after launch, over 2.5 years ago.
