I found this article today that say the warp drive may actually not only be plausible, but maybe feasible!!! Yes, you read it right! Actually, the plausible part was establish for some time 1994. The possibly feasible part is new! We may, just maybe, see it in our lifetime!

Seen a few articles on this new concept, and it's interesting, but I haven't seen any mention of the Alcubierre device's major limitation that the bubble needs to be created and dispersed from the outside. Old joke is, to start building an Alcubierre drive, you first need a working Alcubierre drive.

It's an interesting move forward - no more need to annihilate Jupiter with an inconveniently large antiJupiter to start the engine, and causal separation might have a workaround, but the one reason it probably won't happen in our lifetimes (at least larger than sending atoms across a lab) is the exotic matter, which has been more elusive than the Higgs Boson.

It's theoretically sound that it can exist, but also that it can't be created through normal particle or antiparticle interactions. Until there's a major breakthrough in particle physics, we'd have to source that stuff somewhere in the universe. Which extends the paradox to needing two working Alcubierre drives to collect the material to build the first Alcubierre drive.
