Took a break and ran off from the game, and coming back there are a billion different escorts fed side now. I mainly run PvE and STF stuff and seeing so many different new stuff running around don't know what to really use and I guess I just wanted opinions and views regarding some of the new stuff. I have the Defiant R, and the Multi-Vector, but now there is the Armitage, the time destroyer one, and even the new 1000 day destroyer (Not even going to mention the bug ship due to the fact that it costs a billion dollars). Just want to watch things go pop after a long day at work but didn't know if the new stuff was worth it or what not. Just seemed like a dozen ways to make things go pop the same way, and didn't know which direction to focus on instead of using all of them. I know that this is subjective, but hopefully people can give me their views and opinions on the different ones, and which one might be more effective realistically in a PvE/STF framework.
Four words: Fleet Tactical Escort Retrofit.
The most powerful ship in the game, and let's not forget that it tanks. As for PvE (I have STFs in mind here) any escort will do really. It's just that the Defiant does the most in terms of absolute sheer power.

The Armitage is a fine ship. Switched from the multi-vector to it myself. It's tankier slower (same base turn rate, but no boost from separation), but its fighters add more reliable DPS than the MVAM sections - if you loose an MVAM section you might as well leave it dead, but fighters you can replenish.
The fleet MVAE gets my vote for STF escort duties because it has 5 tac consoles plus the ability to run GW1.
Also if you're just coming back, I'd draw your attention to the fact that Tric mines have been buffed through the roof and a tac buffed DPB3 can erase any NPC if it hits hull, plus it handles most of the smaller ones right through shields.
I f you own the Defiant R already, you should get the Fleet Defiant as it will only cost you 1 Fleet ship module (500 zen or 5mil EC off exchange) most decent size fleets should be able to access the Fleet Defiant by now as it needs a tier 3 Fleet starbase shipyard.
Owning the Multivector also lets you get a Fleet version for 1 module but it takes a tier 4 shipyard and I doubt many fleets if any have that yet.
Both of these ships get 5 tac console and increased hull over their z-store versions and are good choices
Armitage also has a fleet version that gets a 4th eng console and increased hull but is a very long way away since it needs t5 shipyard, but even without the Fleet version yet it is still a great choice since the pets add damage to an already high dps ship.
Another excellent escort is called the Fleet Patrol escort, probably the tankiest escort of all
it is an upgraded version of what used to be called the "Fleet Escort" now known as the patrol escort. Unfortunatley there is no z-store version of this so buying the Fleet Patrol escort requires 4 fleet ship modules but only needs t1 shipyard so any fleet should be able to access it.
I recomend any of these it just depends how much you want to spend and what tier shipyard you have access too.
Awesome info. Might need to find a new fleet as the fleet I am part of apparently died at the 2nd upgrade so no fleet defiant until I can get a new fleet, but the info in the thread so far has been awesome. Thanks everyone.
I fly the Fleet Patrol Escort and love it. Anyway, check out the 44th fleet..
