Thought I would throw a post up as i'm getting annoyed at the quality of the content being released by Crytic for this game after trying the tribble build of Season 7.

I am aware that a tribble build is just a test base and things may change etc but what really annoys me is that i've been here since the early days of beta so I have seen the game progress through many phases (Beta, Launch, FTP integration etc) and I have even been one of those players who have hung onto the glimmer of hope when cryptic said content was coming soon when it never did.

After playing the new STF "Into The Hive" on tribble tonight I can honestly say I haven't been more disappointed in what has been produced especially for an STF which was discussed as being released nearly 2 years ago, it's as if Cryptic forgot that they were making an STF for season 7 and asked their intern to make one in the foundary that morning. Yes it does have interesting mechanics and adds something new but come on I expect more than 3 rooms and a handful of corriders for something that was meant to be in the game a few years before.

Is this the new trend for Cryptic to release content worthy of a facebook game? are they only really interested in taking people's money and not delivering on their promises or decent content.

I counted tonight the average time it will take you to complete the new events and STF that they released onto tribble and it adds upto 1 hours worth of content if you go by Cryptics average time for completion, this is also disappointing considering how long we have been without real content.

One thing I want to know is when is the real mission based content coming? When are the weekly episodes coming back?

Come on Cryptic you have been going on about how your team has increased etc well come on and show us and start releasing something worthy of keeping us playing and not something for players to throw money at to earn a ship or level up a starbase as it seems at the moment all your effort is going into making lockboxes to earn money or starbases so people spend all their time grinding or spending more money to get dilthium.

What is the future? More pay-to-win. More needless currencies (Romulan Marks, REALLY Cryptic? Seriously?!?!). More BS.

First, all Borg STF stuff is going away ... no more EDC, Salvage or Tech drops.

That means just with this update we removed 3 currencies (it did more as we know Salvage and Tech does into uncommon, Rare and Very marks and Tech was further divided into 6 parts) and also the Reman datalog is gone, the Vault is now giving Romulan Marks so what "needless" currency did we get?

NONE! since all are replacing existing currencies.

What we gain? LESS CRAP FILLING MY INVENTORY! since it goes into the Assets section.

And yes, we will get more because when they add something they have to sure you people that accumulated millions of EC and Latinum dont just "Pay to Win" by not playing the new content.

Or are going to say that the current system is "fine"?

Nope - it'll be a one month grind to get Mk X, then another month to get Mk XI, one more for Mk XII blue, then another month for Mk XII purple (just for MACO of course). Then you'll do it all again for 'Adapted' MACO, then once more for Omega.

See you in a year

Seriously though, you have seen how the resources needed for Fleet starbases go up exponentially for each level? Expect your grinding to get these sets to do the same...

I'm willing to bet you $5 you're going to have to run more than the equivalent of 20 Elite STFs to get a single piece of Mk XI MACO.

I also suspect that you're not going to have much choice in what you grind for - you'll unlock 'Tiers' of equipment as you gain reputation - so even if you don't want the Mk X stuff, you'll still have to unlock it (and the Mk XI) before you can start grinding for XII.

(And I suspect that's where a lot of our 'converted' EDCs are gonna end up going - unlocking stuff that we'd have never spent them on in the first place.)

Speculation.

It's amazing to see the level of panic an update can raise in the community. The reputation system isn't out yet. I'll be complaining with you if it's really stupid with insane amounts of inputs to get only the basic stuff, but I've seen the video priority one made with the devs, and it's been told that hardcore players would get to the end of this system very quickly.

So the only answer I can give you now is "meh, you really see plots everywhere". Let's wait for the next blog to complain if we have to.

Agreed. Because cryptic doesn't really have 'tiers' of releases, (e.g. Borg as Mk XII, Romulan as MK XIII, Reman as MK XIV etc.) all of the old stuff seems to stay kind of current, situationally. That's ok, but where the big guys like blizzard have Valour and justice point and can just keep pushing old valour stuff down to justice, and new stuff as valour you'd run into a slew of problems with something similar in STO.

As it is they should probably just ditch GPL, it's doesn't really add anything to the game and it's mindless busy work to acquire. If it isn't going to be the main source of exchange between races or the like well then why bother? In a purely RP sense there would always be some conversion between EC and GPL anyway, so why do you need two currencies when there isn't a floating exchange rate and all of that (and why on earth would anyone want that anyway).

And they're going to partially downtier all of the borg stuff into what seems like one unified currency (which is good enough).

It's true, I'm a cynic - but that cynicism has been hard earned.

This isn't just pure speculation though - there's three precedents - one, The Vault datalogs which (for the rewards it offers) is a truly ridiculous grind and one that Cryptic thought was a good idea.

Two - the splitting off of the Borg Console into a separate set. This was never done for balance or to stop Escorts from being too tanky - it's been done as a cheap, tacky way to give us more 'content' to grind for without actually having to make anything new.

Three - the Fleet system - if the reputation system is taking its cues from the Fleet advancement system then we've all got cause for worry. The Fleet system is a resource black hole and spits everything at you in a fairly linear fashion.

I can't see Cryptic wanting you to unlock Mk XII before you've unlocked Mk X. Most people currently skip Mk X altogether. Having more options as to how we earn Marks is a good thing, but I think we're actually going to have less choice as to how we spend them.
