Played Descent. Wish they would do a remake of that game, it was freaking awesome. I can't play it anymore though, no floppy drive on my laptop -.- (also I think my system wouldn't recognize it anyways).

But you are correct, it took me almost 2 hours to get used to EVERYTHING mattering when I maneuvered. But once I got it down, I felt sorry for those poor robots. Also the game X-wing. Nobody here would survive that if they thought full 3d is bad. Oh wells.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Why the Devs can't make PvE content harder. <--- DR proved me wrong!

Moving straight up and down really would be nice. Especially since one of the new romulan pve encounters requires people to engage opponents spawning straight below them. Being forced to "circle" down is just frustrating.

It's a nice concept, but it's not for STO. Maybe someone can kickstart a 3D spaceflight simulator?
People tried to claim this on the TOR forums before launch, and apart from one or two people like yourself, the vast majority of players who posted said it would not be a problem and that it would provide for better gameplay.

Even for those people who think it might be too challenging for them, all it would take is some practise on earlier missions to get the hang of it.

I will agree with you about the camera though. Something would need to be done about that.

SWG had true 3D space flight and many many people enjoyed that and did not find it disorienting after they got used to it.

The main issue STO does not have it is DStahl has gone on record saying it was an aesthetics choice that is not likely to ever change. If they would just add true 3D flight to fighters, shuttle craft, and perhaps escorts, I would be happier. But I would also like them to remove the "banking" in space. Space flight in STO is more like atmospheric flight in that regard.

It really is amazing how these thrashed, denied and denigrated ideas keep resurfacing from time to time.

Flight Sims are shelved on the other side of the aisle. Look for M$ Flight Simulator and you'll find all of the space flight simulators.

OR, you can go Google Chris Roberts attempt to rebirth the WC/Privateer universe.

If you hold your breath waiting on true 3 dimensional space flight in STO, the graveyards will soon be overflowing.

I'ts fine for what it is. It's a game, not a simulator.

+1 from me. But total 3D control, as stated, would be sickening. All those Defiants running around is queezy just thinking about it.
You could have like a "B" button for space so some people can 3d and some no so 3d ...
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

I hope STO get's better ...
