its not the nubs you need to be worried about...its the guys like me that if i ran ams or theta or grav pulse or whatever trick i would never die and kill at will.
and im way at the low end of that list of players in this game.
By describing a target that's blown all his CDs, is waiting for the subnuke bazinga can of whoopass, and flying alone against multiple aggressors?
Flying alone against multiple enemies is a ticket to the respawn area.
What he meant is that in a 5v5, you have X number of damage dealers, and Y number of whatever else on your team. Within that each person/target varies without how tough and difficult to kill they are and require a different amount of firepower to break.
For example, you might be able to crack through an escort with just the damage dealers pounding hard and timing their buffs/debuffs, however you might need more damage output to get through a healing cruiser/carrier/whatever. You deal with this according to what you have, and what you know the enemy team has and you distribute your damage dealing in accordance with what your facing in a given match....

I get that.
Perhaps the issue here is that I was going with what he was saying literally. The context matters - with it being a combination of 1v1 and 2-3 v1 discussions... it comes off as it does.

With regards to the 1v1 and 2-3v1 comments:
The main thing to get is dependent on the type of ship that you're having to shoot at and (more importantly) who is doing the actual shooting.
If the ship is a full cruiser healer then they will have maximum tanking potential and will require significant firepower to bring down (2-3 people normally). Now enter in a team setting and that 2-3 person requirement now becomes amplified because you have additional teammates in the mix supporting that ship just as the teammates are being supported by him. In those cases, the only way to win is to take out the surrounding support and therefore enable you to take down the healer(s).
As for 1v1, it's difficult anticipate how things will react in a 1v1 setting, given that it's not the main focus of the game (for all of the soloing that you do in PvE/leveling, PvP is a team sport).
so there is this new hax ship on the horizon? (no pun intended) and you got yourself all worked into a fine little ragemode......
with either anticipation or resent...right?
well, your ole buddy horizon is here with a friendly little piloting tip for those that just can't wait to lay the smack down on some Vesta ASS.
you see, what happens after an overpowered ship is launched....in the queue's..... everybody rushes out with their partially tested POO POO build.
what you need..... ZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
is a Horizon tested PEW PEW build!
what you will need:
a sci captain.
a tac captain.
voice communication
or a nice keybind to announce these 2 things
1 subnuke, sensor scan combo.....full aux and some torpedos.
1 attack pattern alpha, fire on my mark.... and some dual heavy cannons
you see....it is inevitable. there are cooldown gaps.
every target has a tac team cycle. most players still run reverse shield polarity.
so wait until that Vesta has run his little game.....then run your "Horizon tested" (TM) combo! nuke that ***** Vesta's RSP right into the ground. and Debuff that sucker with scans and fomm.....and here come the cannons and torps.
and there you go. one big OP ship blowing up right in front of you. and if he was rubber band healed back into OPness???? target the guy who healed him. he doesnt have anything to heal himself with. and if that guy is backed up.....well... you either ran into a partial/full premade... or a very aware pug. (the latter does not happen much btw.....or the first one actually)
have fun kill bad guys!
Can I be your sci duder when we get to blow this ships up?!!
First it was the gal-x- it was uup as hell people that played it soon realised it was crap, and sure there have been many p2win ships but it really started with oddessy imo or the bug ship they are truely better then their counterparts.
This new science ship might be just a karfi, but it got everything abit better or more of. Op maybe not but its just a matter of time when the old T5 ships are as relevant as the miranda in pvp.
