All good points but I just want to say that it's a little difficult for me to agree with this part opf your post since Scott didn't write Prometheus. Not saying he didn't have full control of the content put into the film, but it does make me question exactly how much control he had compared to Lucas since he's not credited as a writer.
It was written by Damon Lindelof, the same guy who helped write/ co-produce lost and the JJ trek. He is not working on the second Prometheus though haha, Scott sacked him.
What happened to movies having some kind of build up and savoring the graphical action scenes for special parts in the movies?

The vs predator stuff wasn't bad by me but it wasn't great either. It's watchable but I never really consider it as "part of the franchises". As for the Scott not writing, no he didn't but at the same time he does have direct control over a lot of it as well as his early quotes on the film were numerous comments of "it's not an 'alien' movie", he didn't write Robin Hood either but he changed it vastly from the script which was supposedly pretty decent up until he got it.
Still though, if you ever make it big a good idea is to let others openly critique you, that way you don't think everything you drop is gold.
