Discovered not long ago that the Peregrine fighter can run the quad cannons and comes with its own built-in copy of Cannon Rapid Fire 1, so I've started running a build with the quad cannons, 180 degree quantum torpedos from the Regent, and the Red Matter Capacitor to mitigate the power drain from the cannons somewhat. Still deciding if I like it.

QCs need to be a reward unlock that puts the QC into that accounts that purchase the vessel.
So the player gets the Phaser/Disruptor version on purchase and now has the chance of recieving a QC reward drop as well.

Such reward drops would have to cover all energy types, mark level and proc types.

the best thing about the QC is the fact it uses engine power split power so ur weapons and engines have the most of the power that way the qc can fire at full power doing more dmg and ur other forward cannonc are fire at full power too.

i have 125 weapon power and 45+ to engines no counting bonus power n stuff unless u put the extra power to engines id pass on QC

but i prefer to run my escorts with QC it look so perdy

So again, the quad cannons use double the power, ten weapons power and ten engine power, and are still no where near better than the fleet weaponry... so much for being "the most powerful cannons in the game." False advertizing.

they may not be the most powerful but they can pump out some of the best DPS around my quad disruptors spit out about 281 DPS which out paces even the mk 12 dual cannon variant by a bit.

Technically speaking , this cannon was introduced much earlier -- before any Fleet weapons were in game .
Realistically -- I believe that even before the Fleet weapons were introduced into the game , these canons were proven as not the most powerful ones in game .

Take the Defiant for what it is ... -- a ship that you have to pay 3-4 times to get the best/prettiest/complete version .

If i could get the disruptor version for my Fed Breen warship that would be nice, also being limited to only one per ship....lame Right now I have the fleet DHC disruptor's the red matter console the rommie plasma buff and stacked disruptor consoles...Perhaps i'm better off as I am right now

If only there was more incentive to buying the ship I'd think about it...like taking the cloak and fitting it to the breenship? lol

I tend to buy it soon as my Tac. Capt. gets up to level to use it (lv 30). I see it a good buy since its cheaper than the Fleet purchase, the weapon levels as you level, and I get the ship skin. Plus looking at the Defiant vs the C store, it is slightly better. As it comes with an additional slot. What what I can remember from viewing it a while back. So this will help out my Capt. at lv30.

Later as I hit lv50. I plan on using the Defiant Class as my primary ship. So those cannons will be on it as well. And make a good option to use other than the Prometheus and Andorian ship I will have as well at that level. I usually try to have around 3 ships to pick from at times, and to rotate. I will keep the QCs on the Defiant since I have plans on making each ship different from each others as well.

You are most certainly right.
When you pay for a Quad cannon the bugger had better fire, and do the damage of, 4 of something!
You should be looking at over twice the damage of the Fleet DHC...that's kind of depressing.
