So I finally got around to getting the whip and well I'm disappointed.

You'd figure it would work like every other malee style weapon in the game but nope, the Borg adapt to it.

That's because it's a hybrid - it functions as both an energy weapon and a melee weapon at the same time.

I still find it a good weapon for fighting other enemies, but yeah, not so much against the Borg.

Episodes such as http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Unity_(episode) show that the Borg can be electrocuted.

This is a serious flaw, especially for the cost of the whip. I wont be buying any more Zen for Lobi crystals when my first purchase turns out like this.

I got mine back when it was 5 or 10 lobi.

Honestly it looks really cool but it's not that great a weapon. And I'll tell you why: You can't crouch. Such a subtle little thing, but since crouching offers a 50% chance to dodge anything coming your way, in actual gameplay it means that using the whip you will take twice as much damage during ranged engagements.

It doesn't do enough damage to justify that weakness. Stick with the MACO rifle for your long range needs.
