I spotted this news article this morning, talking about how the League of Legends has set up a 'player reputation' system which allows you to give points to other players, or deduct them depending on what they are like.

So, say you had a decent player who answered questions and didn't mind helping people out. They would end up with a high score, where you would get players like the STF AFK'ers who would continually be marked down.

I know this type of system is open to abuse, but the LOL developers reckon they have it pretty well balanced and can detect when people abuse it.

Anyone else think it would be a good way to improve manners of the people in game?

I've played LoL a bit. It isn't the type of game I love to play that often, but they do a *lot* of things right. It's popular enough to become a sport with cash prizes.

Like some of the characters in the game are lovingly annoying enough to have tons of fan art (and videos) all over the place. I can't think of a single character in STO who stands out.

I read before about a similar idea: folks who contributed to a community would receive a discount when buying time for the game, while a an abusive player would have to pay more. Like... let's say a base price for a subscription was $10/month. A player who people liked would only pay $5/month, while a troll would have to fork out $20/month to make up for the players he's likely to drive away from the game.

Shame STO isn't still Pay2Play. That would have been a good way of doing it, lol.
