# 1 multiple targeting

A multiple targeting feature is an ability that seems sorely lacking at this point in the games development. The ability to either select at least two targets for attack, or be able to select an enemy and an ally (enabling you to continue attacking while able to heal an ally without breaking off your attack run) would be a welcome addition to enhance the game-play experience.

I certainly do not see how this feature would be game-breaking in any way and would be well within the ability of any ship given this games time frame, considering that multiple targeting is currently available on most weapons systems in our own time.

thoughts?

Yes I have thoughts. Three of them to be exact.

Beam Fire at Will.

Cannon Scatter Volley.

Torpedo Spread.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.

I see this as game breaking.

It breaks Fire at Will, what's the point in using FAW if you can multi-target anyways.

This breaks having to use FAW as a cruiser/tank with APB for aggro and holding aggro on multiple targets. Rather than learning how to increase your aggro in a smart way, it gets dumbed down to "MASHHEADONDAKEYBROAD"

Just two thoughts that come to mind as you mentioned game breaking.

Oh and it breaks Cannon: Scatter Volley, another extremely powerful skill used by escorts that becomes useless if you can target multiple enemies all of the time.

You can pin targets on your hud then you can focus on another target. Win.

The primary issue as I see it is that it would often be helpful to select a new target without having my ship break its targeting lock. This is especially necessary with science ships, where breaking lock will result in your sensor analysis buff poofing- but there are plenty of reasons you might want to do it, such as targeting a heal.

I wish there was a way to separate 'ship targeting' and 'cursor select'. I'm not sure what a good way to do that would be, though.

Back when i was flying a Galaxy Class I used to target something in front of me, fire, swing teh camera around while the front firing cycle went on and did the same to a rear target.
Took a bit of effort, but I was able to split my fire very effectively between two targets that way manually.

would love to see this, really need to be able to heal and attack at same time imo.

Erm there already are ability's and consoles that enable you to attack more than one primary target you can also do it manually depending what your keybinds are.

Don't forget about your power levels though, you may find you can do more damage to one target than you can to two at a time and this will only work with pve...utterly Buckley's of trying to take out two people in pvp at once unless your some kind of grandmaster.

First, as everyone else said, you can 1) pin a target and always keep an eye on it. 2) you have your squad mates info off to the side, including health. and 3) Fire at Will, Torpedo Spread, Cannon Scatter Volley, and any targetable AoE science skill will get the job done well enough.

Second, with using your teammate targeting keys (F2-F5, F1 is for yourself), you can quickly bop between healing someone and then back to firing on someone else. And HoTs like Hazard Emitters still work even if you are not targeting them (Or even if you are still alive, as i have found in some cases )
