I am proposing is something that I think could work, Auto-navigation.
It has never made any sense to me that we hit a literal wall at the border of each sector, I understand that it may not be possible for the galaxy to be a continuous map, but why can't we automatically load the maps as we reach the border instead of having to click a confirmation prompt before doing so?
Extending on this the galactic map is no longer a passive display, with what I propose, you click on an area in the galactic map and your ship flys to that destination, automatically laying out waypoints to fly you to and through the necessary connecting borders to get you there.

I'd be happy if I could just select and follow any target. Friendly or hostile, in sector space, system space, and on the ground.
