I wonder if the complains about Danubes carrier daughtercraft indicate that there is something wrong with Tractor Beam in general?
In the shows, a tractor beam is essentially a tow connecting two ships, while in STO, it is more of a graviton bombardment of the target ship's drive, slowing it down drastically. If it was more like in the shows, it could just mean to increase the target's mass (inertia?) by the tractor beaming ship's mass (inerta?).
Et voila, danubes are nothing more than the nuisance they are supposed to be, and tractor beams become really good only for the big ships.
As long as people are willing to pay for the ships and equipment, it only gives Cryptic the incentive to further buff said items, and create more of it. In essence the players who are complaining and buying stuff are just digging their own grave.
An example from Babylon 5:
Psi corps was made to protect normal people from fear of getting probed by telepates. But what happend is that the corps ended up controlling said people because of said fears. In other words, the people created their own monster.
THIS is exactly whats happening here, and its hardly anything new. People are buying stuff and then complain its bad, only to see it get buffed to kingdom comes. Until players vote and protest with their money, NOTHING will change and Cryptic will carry on as they always have.
I've been threatening to buy an Atrox and load it up with Danubes, tractor mines, tractor beam, gravity well, eject warp plasma and every other hold I could fit on it. Then taking it into FvF and tractoring the hell out of everyone who whines about siphon drones.
If the cool down adjustment keeps me from being serial tractored, I may not.

Actually, it's a nerf. I've never had a huge problem with them personally. They're not nearly as bad as siphon drones. It may sound like I'm Fed biased, but I play both sides with about 70% of my PvP being on my KDF toons. I always feel dirty when I team with siphon drone users.
