Seriously, this is crazy now with this new ability they have to get you even if you are directly below or above cubes, before this update we escort captains had the ability to play it smart and stay out of the torp firing arc which made these invisible one hit kill nuke torpedo's that are immune even to scatter volleys somewhat tolerable. No more is this the case and you are condemned to respawn hell if you are the one that has the highest DPS and get the aggro all the time!

...... QQ. Its the borg...they use cubes,spheres, etc... because of the strategic advantage it gives them. Cubes have no rear, bottom, top. Ever notice in Star trek how no one ever said lets attack the Borg from behind... What they did is make it more realistic. Don't complain because they made the Borg stronger... It's the Borg theyre supposed to be strong. Complaining about not being able to destroy them wouldve been alot bettter not making a thread about how you cant flank a shape.

I agreed with the undestructable/instakill torps being stupid. But i didnt agree with op's claim that always being in the torp arc of a cube is ridiculous. If that makes me a boot licker then so be it.

If they were survivable sure, I wouldn't mind the arc limit being gone, but as they are, no. Now the only option is to stay out of torp range but that sure puts a damper on using cannons due to large loss of damage at that range with them.

But I doubt the dev's will ever nerf those torps. Either they do that, or restore the verical arc limit. Bad design is bad design after all. Gameplay that allows room for strategy that makes different classes to play their role properly must trump any realism especially in an MMO.

Hm I don't know, dilithium discussion aside, but I noticed a trend toward redesigning content more toward requiring survivability through tanks/heals/cc lately.


I haven't really noticed the new torpedo arc in those couple STFs I played, but i noticed that I had a more hard time to stay alive in my chimera through more intense DPS on Borg side.

I liked that actually.

There where some one shots, which I attribute to invisitorps mostly from the gates, but that is nothing new.

There have also been several indications we get better means of threat control through the reputation systems, new consoles and new deflectors enhancing threat control.

That to me says, gameplay is steering away from highest DPS team wins toward trinity play.

Honestly I used to have a lot of fun flying by brel in stfs... now its not an option. I will pull argo 95% of the time, and I will respawn every single time getting hit by torps that hit for 60k+ that is plain not survivable in a brel no matter what you have even with my armour absorbing a good 30% of that its still insta pop when you have 30k hull...my close to 50k hull fed escorts are not much more usable at the moment.

Either fix threat properly giving cruisers an INATE passive bonus to threat generation, and escorts and sci inate passive threat reduction bonuses..... or correct the borg base torp dmg.

I don't mind the odd one shot... but when they at this point after this patch I can pretty much count it down when I grab argo... I have a bout 20 seconds before I get hit by something I simply can't do squat about. Its BS and extremely unfun.

I do not like borg ships having the ability to instant kill. I was just in an Elite Cure group and Borg Raptors were essentially 2 shotting me. One to knock my shields out and the other to kill me. I might not be the best or more experienced STO player in the world but before season 7 this did not happen. If it is the devs intention to make STF's more difficult thats fine but how about some advanced notice.

I am conflicted.
While I appreciate the more faithful adaptation of Borg's power from the shows and movies, I do not like being instant kill every minute.
At least make the instant kill weapon targetable torpedo, so we have a chance to destroy it before it destory us.

I don't mind the 360 torp arc... just calm down the crits, hitting for 50 or 60k like it's nothing is what bothers me.
1hr of work @NYS Min Wage 7.25 = 725 Zen
725 x 102 (or current exchange rate) DL = 73950 DL <- can you earn that per hour in game?
