How many players are you talking about that are leaving? The same whining posts appear with every season release like a bunch of babies. Just cope with change and move on, or leave the rest of us to enjoy the game already.

There are a few threads, both here in the Foundry section and in the regular feedback areas, with this same tone. Cryptic has done a good (and I think deliberate) job of turning one group of the community against the other over the things they themselves are responsible for.

Can you give me a dev link? And what does this have to do with an economic system?!

The OP in this one sets the mood nicely: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=443031 and this one has some gems: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/sh...d.php?t=441201. There was another in the gen feedback section; I think it was one of the console-clickie rages.

Addressing your first question, I could not give you a dev link as I never look at their posts. I made a speculation and fairly noted it as such.

As to the other, I have been a game-modder for over 15 years and during that time I have noticed a clear trend in the gaming industry toward rampant greed, scape-goating, and demonization (Mega Upload anyone?) It happened in publishing, it happened to films, it happened to music, and now it has happened in video games:

The industry is pioneered by artists, becomes profitable, and is then usurped by the most mindless, soulless beast on Earth: the bean counter. And its not just in creative endeavors linked to commerce either. Every surface has an add plastered on it. Neil degrass Tyson notes in his book, Death by Black Hole, that a major financial company once called him to inquire how they might project their logo on the moon.

All art has been replaced by advertising; all culture with commerce. The direction this game is going in is indicative of the same sickness that permeates human civilization today: Pathological and self-destructive greed.

Sermon over, have a nice day.

It does worry me that Cryptic seems to do a lot to piss off its players time and time again. Since we're not making money off the Foundry, we obviously only do it for fun. But from a practical perspective, if no one exists to play our missions the reward for making them drops a lot.

The biggest danger to the Foundry probably isn't lack of updates, but rather the whole game losing players. I have to say that Cryptic's performance over the past couple of years makes me feel a little bit uncertain in that regard.

Amen. The rampant scores of people who tear down games with unreasonably high standards don't help things either.

Enh... I doubt there are many people who are actually unhappy enough to leave over S7.
