Thanks SO MUCH for all your support, and we'll see you in-game!
The issue is not the Hive mission, it's Borg in general post s7. Damage of several abilities have been greatly increased, to the point where unbuffed, invisible, torpedos can one-shot you. As well, the plasma DoT has been incresed about the same amount.
Here is a seperate thread on this in the bug subforum:
It's really hard this one, only just tried it once on normal but yeah i died a good few times far too quickly which doesn't normally happen, so they certainly need to dial it down a bit.
^This^. I want a chance to figure this one out, before we start calling for nerfs. Yeah, it's brutal. I love it. All of my ships I use for STFs, while different, are essentially setup the same. To achieve maximum DPS. Now, suddenly, I'm thinking about defense and team heals.
Hold off there Cryptic, if you're reading this here. We're just getting started on this one.
This^^^^ It was BRUTAL, 3 members of the team gave it a good try but they left(PUG) and there was NO way me and the other guy were going to complete it. Leave it alone and let me figure out how i can best get equipped to beat this thing!
On the other hand the one shots were 350K(525K dps)(not exact but it was 300+k and 500+k dps) you can shoot down the torps but there were some sneaky ones. I dont know how I can defend against this, no matter what build I have.

Its right where the end climactic battle against the borg should be, Challenging.
And I will say it again those torp volleys everyone complains about are very livable. Half full epts boosted shields and a strong hull resist bootsting skill when you see it incoming and you live to fly out the other side.
If your a escort the cruiser of the group should hit you with an extends and a A2S. If your tinny hulled low on shields and armor escort is to far away from anyone esle to get heals or they dont trust you to be able to live through it even if they do, "Own damn fault" Ponder over game dynamics while you watch the respawn timer tick.
This instance is fine, just don't pug it and if you can't do it, change your build, because you'll fail if you don't have a good pve one. Hive onslaught needs many things but definitely not a nerf. If you're not good at it you still have 3 other space STFs to play. We also need a good challenge!
And with the reputation powers, it'll be even more easy. It's not *hard* once you understand how the mission works, you'll need to figure it out and get better builds with some knowledge about how to use your abilities. I see many people wasting all of them after minor damage. There's no mystery in instakills, it's the player, not the borg. I never get one shot, because i've spend time testing the mission.
Teamwork and a balanced group are critical to beating Hive Onslaught-unlike the older STFs, you actually NEED toons other than Tacs and ships other than Escorts on the team if you want to beat it-or even complete it.
running up and sqirting 4 DHC's and 3 Turrets on max from your escort, without a team healer and a guy running de-buffs on the target? BAD IDEA. Outrunning your team healer to where he can't extend shields or send you healing is ALSO a bad idea. The Borg in this mission will EAT you. Ditto for all would-be Kirks out there-your team is, in Hive Onslaught, your lifeline and going off by yourself is just a short trip to respawn (and on elite, expensive respawn as you MUST fix damage that accrues!)
I've run this with Tac, and Sci toons-the mission fails when nobody works together, or when vital functions aren't covered (healing, damage, AND de-buffing!!)
I've run it in BoPs, Carriers, and Cruisers-and successfully in BoPs(Tac) and Carriers (Sci). Cruiser with a tac? not so much. the worst fails I've seen so far were in one of two directions:
1. All Tacs running escorts and Bops. the universal station is nice for giving you the ability to mimic some Sci power functions of a Science officer, but wihtout the science ability to use sensor analysis you can't cover the function, nor can you cover sub-nucleonic-beam (critical for taking down the Unimatrix ships and the Queen)'s ability to de-buff.
2. 4 Tacs and 1 engie, all cruisers. didn't work. in this case, lack of DPS was the issue, followed by lack of manueverability to close and retreat. the inability to de-buff was keenly felt here too-the Unimatrix ships in the old red-alerts don't use NEARLY as many buffs, de-buffs, CC and holds as these do, and managing spawn under fire without enough team-healing is a real pain, you end up in an endless cycle of trying to keep the spawns from overwhelming you while trying ineffectually to dodge plasma balls and lances.
Conclusion;
Mixed teams work best-science, engineering AND tactical, tanks AND healers AND DPS machines-it's a mission that REQUIRES a balanced team to complete, if you're used to ISE (or god help us, ISN) which can be optional-complete with 5 Tacs in Escorts, you're in for a rude shock...which I suspect the OP just got.
I like a challenge, but I think we can all agree that invisible instakill torpedoes are just annoying. There is no challenge to it, and when was the last time you saw the borg using any form of cloaking, let alone for a torpedo?

Did an ESTF today, and got hammered a little harder than I anticipated by a regular Borg Cube. So yeah, the borg are a little buffed, but they aren't OP. The ultimate irony is that the cube was doing more damage with it's torps than it's BAs. That aside, the plasma fires were also a little stronger than I remembered. But it's still manageable.
Borg aren't OP, just powerful. You just need to remember that and compensate for it.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
My ship is stronger now than it has ever been before
STO builds call for cannons front supported by turrets
Rear highest Dps boom goes the target
Not anymore
Try that build nose to Tac cube and fire away , I'n a few seconds
Your respawning, I've pushed the last week and see this over and over
My M?bius has a star trek build many may call noob but I put
Good Dps on target and almost never get destroyed even though
I hold agro a large portion of the time
