I know others like Cutterslade, Sad Pandas and other premade groups have been getting to wave 9-10 both fed and kdf though I've no idea how close they got but they haven't always been the most optimal of runs so if that were rectified they could also be beating nws I wouldn't put it past them they are very capable.

I wouldn't be surprised if others, now seeing nws has been beaten, renewed their efforts and beat it. I've no idea when I'll work on a guide it's time that's the problem and I want to do it properly but I'll hope to have some time by the weekend at the latest.

I think I was in-game when you guys beat this, I remember seeing something flash across my screen saying they didn't believe in no-win scenarios.

Best I've managed is wave 6/7 I think, it's been a while. Not touching it until I have a fully fitted endgame ship.

In my opinion wave 6 is tricky on the East side when you have a wave spawn, then the platform, then another wave but dealt with correctly and you shouldn't have problems.

Wave 7 is perhaps the most tricky (with exception to 10) because waves spawn North and East (shortly followed by a platform in the North and South) then once most/all ships are destroyed waves spawn South and West. Because of the subtle timing differences and especially no dreadnaught you can save it's not easy especially in the South where you're more likely to get the platform first then the ships warp in when it's probably easier to have it the other way around.

Although 9 is pretty simple and easy it's sometimes too easy and we've killed everything too quickly so most people's abilities are on cooldown for 10 (no dreadnaught to save) so preparing for the next wave is also a challenge.

Here is the lite version of my googledoc which the team has used;

http://tinyurl.com/nws-basic-guide

I've been told it's a detailed and comprehensive guide on what to expect for each wave (when viewed as a slideshow) and very helpful even as a reference.

I hope this is of some help to people while I write up a proper guide, run it by my teammates and publish it on stowiki.

Well from a certain point of view, having 5 dedicated players is cheating. Har har har.

I think the point being made is, you're not going to win going in guns blazing. The test is designed to slap you silly for thinking standard. One does not simply beat the NWS. One must out smart it. You do that by not grouping randomly via the public cues. This, from a certain point of view, is "cheating" and thereby mimics Kirk's achievement as far as I am concerned. You don't wait for life to hand you a win. You take matters into your own hands and get the win.

This is the catch so to speak for beating the NWS. You must cheat aka form your own group and do it privately to have a chance to win. In other words, finally a end game event where it basically requires you to be social and dependent on others to win a battle. It's been long overdue for this game. I guarantee we will never see a random PUG in the NWS win. Ever. Unless it gets nerfed so people can feel better about themselves sucking.

Thats a real win. Unless this exploit is gone and pay2win is used, i dont see it as a win, sorry.
But wasn't you using P2W ships as well? You know, Fleet ships count too.

Lols erm I don't know if I'd go 'that' far with exploits. In canon terms a premade is like any captain choosing his officers, those he can work with and can do their job you don't just pick any random person.

That said some can say using an exploit is in the spiit of Kirk but in the real world passing on those exploits to anyone other than Cryptic is a no no and should be reported and then it's up to Cryptic to fix them. Also abusing them in pvp and ruining the experience for others I'll agree is wrong butat least in pve the damage is limited.
