My primary toon is named after a Civil War confederate general, so I mostly kept the names along those lines. His tac escort retrofit is the Gatling, the Chimera the Merrimac, my fleet tac escort the Robert E. Lee , my Delta the Fort Sumter, and my Captain's Yacht the HL Hunley (named for the first submarine ever used in naval warfare.) One exception is the Jem attack ship, which I named the Ian Gillan, for a reason no one's figured out yet. I meant it to be and "inside joke," but apparently it's too inside. Ian was the lead singer for Deep Purple. Get it?

My newest character's ship is a Delta Flyer, named the U.S.S. Phantom, after the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

When thinking about a name for my Odyssey-class starship I eventually settled on the name U.S.S. Entreprenante.

Per Wikipedia....

USS Wahoo (SS-238) was a Gato-class submarine, the first United States Navy ship to be named for the wahoo, a dark blue food fish of Florida and the West Indies.

Possibly the best Anime ever written with some of the best characters. This is one of several shining moments of that series.

USS Gurren Lagann. If it used torpedos they'd look like drills. As it is I DONT ****ING LOSE!

Added the Esclarent to my line-up, and she's now my flagship. The name comes from a subversion of Arthurian legend, where the Excalibur is actually 2 swords, the Caliburn, and the Esclarent -- the Sword in Stone, the Sword of Peace, and ironically, the sword that Mordred stole and used to mortally wound Arthuria Pendragon.

Considering that I RP as a shining example of a Vice Admiral whose big on diplomacy, and is also a Section 31 agent hiding in plain sight, the name Esclarent embodies my character in his entirety.

(No, I did not mispell Pendragon's name. )

No, you didn't.

There is a series that has King Arthur's name as Arthuria (well, technically it's Arturia there, but still...). Of course, they also ran King Arthur through Rule 63, but that's neither here nor there.

Picked up a fleet Prommie.

Three vectors, dancing around an enemy, softening their defences. Then merging to form a solar wing of destruction, almost as genesis...

Merge 1!
Go merge 2.
Go... (U.S.S.) AQUARION!

The rest just fell into place
Ikuzo, Trombe!
