I love when there is a dedicated healer to back me up as an escort pilot, so I decided to return the favor and made a healboat myself. I'm using the Recluse KDF side. I've taken some tips I've gathered from various players here on the forums and in STO, but still think there's a lot I could learn. I'm basically looking for any tips you may have that could help me become a better healer.
Some tips I have implemented thus far is that I have moved my team tray closer to the center of the map so I don't have to divert my eyes from the field of battle. I also use the function keys to select the player I plan on healing, which is about 100x easier than finding and clicking on them in the field. Other than that I'm just kinda winging it.
For my pets I either use advanced shield repair drones or the normal recluse pets, depending on my mood and team.
One thing that I may be able to improve with this is that I'm using 4 "team" abilities (TT1, ET1, ET2, ST3) which I realize overlap for their cooldowns. I am using them for different situations so it's not a huge problem, but the cooldown overlap issue definitely pops up from time to time and I figure there is probably a better way to go about things, I just don't know what it is.
What i recommend and what should be KEY in a healer build is using Photonic Officer 3 with 2 Photonic doffs to lower CD even further. It will lower CD by a whopping 40-45% all depending on Doff quality. This will help you in 2 ways:
1. It enables you to run a single copy of any relevant skill since you`ll have it back as fast as if you ran 2 copies of it.
2. It gives you flexibilty to choose varied skills so you aint restricted to using multiple copies of X heal to keep up.
So run a PO3, TSS3, HE2 and ST1 on one Sci commander, and spread out remainder heals on the other Boffs.

I wouldn't do dual engi team nor the TSS 1, abilities such as sci team and engi team you can run doffs to shorten the cd's and run either eng team primary or sci team primary depending on the enemy team. And I'm on my phone atm so I'm not going to go into detail.
I've not looked into photonic officer before. What exactly does it do and which is the doff that reduces its cooldown? Also, which doff reduces cooldown of ET? I'm pretty sure my doffs are not the best atm. I don't even know which ones I have equipped...I think maybe 3 BFI ones, which I rarely ever need to use on this ship and a couple others that are probably worthless.
No RSP for a healer? Just switch power settings as necessary and you won't need EPTA.
I figured I would add it if I needed it, but it hasn't seemed I have needed it so far with all the other shield heals and miracle worker. It'd be a nice safety net I suppose. Maybe I could add it, take away a ET, and add ET cooldown reducing doffs.
