I know right! It's so overpriced and expensive that I haven't payed a penny and thoroughly enjoy the non-grindy content! ...wait a moment

The only things I've acquired of any value I've kept for use because I can't afford anything. I'm a lvl 3 lieutenant and still don't have any ECs still.
Seriously, don't bother with buying gear off the exchange at your level. It is a COMPLETE waste of EC. You will do perfectly fine in battle with the starter gear that comes with your ship and the gear that comes with mission rewards. Plus, you will level so fast that by the time you acquire the expensive stuff, you will have out leveled its usefulness. Even the common ship vendor gear will allow you level up level 50 no problem.

Save your EC for when you hit level cap. That's when the gear matters. Sell or vendor the drops that you don't use. You'll have over a million EC by doing that by the time you hit 50 as long as you're not spending it along the way.

Fixed that for you. Played DCUO for about five minutes, was an extreme sadpanda because I had to buy the expansion pack just to play a character based on Green Lantern.

Lagging, D/Cing, or rubberbanding? Here's some help.

Yeah and in DCUO, you'd NEVER need to spend more than $15 a month because expansion access is rented to you as a subscriber and lockboxes are free for subscribers.

You say the Vesta class is overpriced, but 2500ZEN (normal price for a ship) x 3 ships = 7500. You get the pack for 5000ZEN. Be happy you don't have to pay the extra 2500.

Thanks for the advice guys Was just playing more of the game, and I have to say it is awesome. Accidentally stumbled across PvE fleet action. The battle was pure carnage, but we held our ground against a large Klingon fleet. Got some nice stuff to keep and sell (at last). If a few bugs were fixed, and sorting out coms when in combat (i.e. you can perform actions, or minimise it) the game would be perfect.

I'll think I'll hang around a bit more and give it a chance. I'm guessing there is a limit with F2P on joining PvE fleets within a certain time, but no matter. See you in the belts.

Cost of projects then buying items after projects are done. Totally not fair.
The dilithium allowances are far too small, and we are forced to buy it,to get anywhere in this game. This is despite STO being a free game,so we are told.
Free game???? I think not.
It seems to me that the costs involved are getting worse, and it does not matter if a fleet is big or small. The prices generally are far too high.
I hope that Dan Stahl and Mr Branflakes themselves see this, and i hope they realise, that STO will lose people,as they will be priced out of this game.

This whole fleet idea was a big mistake, sadly there are many in fleets who don't bother contributing, and they sit back and do nothing most of the time, while others end up carrying them so to speak.
Personally if it were ever possible,i would run a fleet with just myself and duty officers as fleet staff. end result is more efficient progress and no arguements with other players in this game, about who contributes what and general costs etc.
WRONG!!!!
Heavily overpriced expensive game, no no no its free to play. it really dose mean free.
No one is forced to buy anything, patience is the game for dilithium, its your choice to buy anything from this game.

Fleet stuff, who cares weather somone contributes or not, its not a law to contribute.

Actually... no. You can do missions just as often as a free player. I'd recommend working on DoFF missions as soon as they become available. It helps you level faster and you can get free gear out of it.

Some people are going to claim you can get everything in game without spending Real World money, and they would be correct, but fail to mention the disproportionate amount fo time to acquire the items. In STO, you are punished if you dont want to spend RW monies. The time to acquire the Dilithium needed for conversion into Zen is way out of wack compared to the player that has more disposable income.

It is even further punishing the player by only letting them refine 8k of Dilithium a day. Just to get a complete set of weapons and consoles for your ship at lvl 50 takes aroun 150k plus dilithium, divide that by the daily refine cap, and your at 18 days just for the equipment, not to mention the 2500 zen required for the ship.

This is a far cry from when the Cstore went live, and we were promised the ability to get all items in game in a reasonable amount of time.

As far as too many currencies, you are correct. At one points we had something like 10 in game currencies. One for each level of exploration cluster missions as well as the daily currency. Cryptic removed all but two, and i guess they realized it is much harder for them as a company, because now it seems we are going to get a currency for everything that gets added, unless Romulans are the last Rep faction we need to worry about, which is highly unlikely.

Just be prepared to be shouted down for your view point, it is not the most prevalent one on these forums, a shame really, seeing as how people spend 3 years worth of subscription monies in a single month, and shout out that the game is F2P.
