# 1 A warning to fleets
12-05-2012, 12:29 PM
There are a group of individuals asking to join fleets, once they are invited they check out your fleet bank and If they find your bank isn't protected they clean it out of whatever items they can get.

My fleet bank is locked down so the person who joined us found they couldn't steal items then promptly left us.

Here is the M.O. as I have noticed it....
1. They are typically at a base bank terminal when asking for invites
2. If you have any open permissioned tabs they take what they can
3. They suddenly quit
4. They block any private messaging

I'm guessing older fleets (like mine) are well aware of this but smaller and less established fleets may not be as informed.

Please make sure, that at the very least, you lock down any items of value to your fleet!

It is, but you can put restrictions on what can and can't be done.

With the Fleet I'm in, you don't get Bank Withdrawal Access until you're promoted to a certain level, and the only way of getting there is once you've submitted x amount of resources to the fleet.

No fool is going to be thieving our kit.

Thanks for posting this reminder. It's always important for Fleet Leaders and Admirals to utilize the permission settings to avoid tragedies like this.

FRIENDLY REMINDER: No naming and shaming on the boards I have not seen any yet, but just remember that that's not allowed.

Cheers,

our moto is "it is more blessed to give than receive" therefore our bank accepts gifts but noone can take. Simple rule, the 1st bank tab is for anyones trash they don't want others are restricted. we've made million off the trash noone wants these proceeds are used to grow the starbase. Thank for the warning we are a fleet of over 450.

Define a productive contributor.
Someone could constantly getting fleet memebers together to do STFs, Fleet Mark events, etc but not actually contribute to a SB Project and still be seen as a productive contributor.
If all the added community work that that individual impresses the Leadership, they could decide to promte him for outstanding teamwork.

It really is that simple.

Too many people use fleet-banks as one-way input storage banks for the greater glory of themselves.

I've checked into a few fleets that sounded "fun" until I realized that there were two "leaders" and everyone else was rank 1 or 2 with zero permissions.

Other fleets were more open, but inevitably someone gets attached to the "stuff" and starts auditing people... "Why exactly did you take a stack of mineral samples and a shield? I was saving those for projects..." Or worse. I was throw out of a fleet for taking a gun for a new toon. How was I supposed to know those were "marked" for someone else?

Really I have no sympathy for people who complain about bank theft. For every case of actual theft, most of these complaints are really just people who got overly attached to what are supposed to be "shared" resources.

We had this once.

Luckily we had our bank properly secured and the guy ran away with only a Triolic Tribble.

We then breeded and sent the guy 5 more because he loved them so much. xD

It is not a weird handle. Am I the only one that saw Automan in the '80s?
