A bug that involved Romulan Liberated Borg captains and their skills once they chose an ally
Parts of this game are relatively amusing for me, other parts not so much.
Space combat and an hour or two of mindless pew pew can be amusing and cathartic after a long work day. This is usually punctuated by the clicky clicky of DOFF missions, merching all the junk that I pick up in space combat, and contributing to fleet projects when I have the stuff.
Ground combat is something that I try to avoid. It is sluggish, ultra linear and simple, with mechanics that harken back to games at least a decade old (bad ones at that).
I won't mention the epic grind or the P2W structure. I'm not in competition with anyone, nor do I have a "I must be the first kid on the block to have the new shiny" mentality; so, I just pew pew and clicky clicky at my own pace.
If there was another quick pew pew space genre MMO, I would most likely ditch STO. For now, however, STO is an amusing cutaway from the more advanced fantasy MMO that I play.
After all, this game is 100% free for me ... so what's to lose?
2/10 ground combat
8/10 space combat
4/10 clicky clicky content
I always can find something fun to do in the game. Foundry, Missions, whatever! Personally I just like being able to fly whatever ships I want, with whatever captains I want and explore my own little piece of Trek history.
In game @kahn. Click my sig to see our fleet's website.
Season 6 : 5/10 (getting boared of doing the same borg stf again and again, and nothing else, cause there was only stf worth to play)
Season 7 : 9.5/10 (it can't be perfect, nothing can, but hey ! Now i have a ton of things to do, New Romulus things, of cours, but also all the old stuff like explo, fleet action etc... now that feet action haven't anymore unballanced rewards, everything in the game worth the playtime, and that's great. In addition, now I have to actually play the game in order to optain the best stuff i want =)
And finally, if I sometimes didn't have fun to play sto, I just don't (but thats very rare since Season 7)
It depends on how you define "Fun," my idea of "FUN" may differ from yours. I think this thread should be renamed - "Is season 7 a positive change to STO?"
Note:
-1. Fun for me is blowing up other players in my KDF BoP
-2. Fun for me is creating new toons and giving them a bio - often using other popular shows, book characters, lore, popular commerical actors or actress etc... to enhance my fiun factor.
-3. I love naming my ships after historical figures, other popular television shows, historical ships etc...
-4. I have fun with my fleet mates and STO friends - we crack jokes, play STF's together, help build our Fleet starbases etc..
-5. I enjoy all the new ships that CRYPTIC puts out, even if I consider some PUGLY, and with soo many toons I at times give a toon or two one of those PUGLY vessels.
-6. I enjoy Accolade hunting with friends
-7. As critical as I am about CRYPTIC's storytelling, there are some good ones in the episode list, like "Alpha," "Doomsday," "Stranded," many of the Romulan mission episodes, and the Reman FE, Devidian FE, and even the Breen FE - all well done. The 2800 FE had some issues, but for the most part it was decent.
-8. The foundry - works from people like captainrevo keep me entertain - there are really good ones out there. try "Good Intentions Part I & II." "Left for dead," "Sins of the Son," etc... there are far too many to mention - but there are some very talented and really gifted people out there that makes the foundry an enjoyable experience.
-9. Some of season 7 features are not really that bad, they just need to be tuned and cater towards being player friendly.
"Am I having fun in the game?" - Truthfully, not a lot at present, which is why I'm not logging on very often these days. I'll be logging on to do Q's daily race, not because I expect it to be fun but because I don't want to get left out and not have the new ship.
At this moment my main reason for sticking around is because having been here for nearly three years, I feel like I've got a commitment of time and effort in the game and that if I leave now and they [i]ever/I] get around to fixing the bits that need fixing, I may find I've been left too far behind because of not being around to do the grinding.
STO for me now is more like work than play and I've already got a full time job, which pays much better than STO, so not finding it fun at present.

Here before PWE (and hopefully) here long after PWE is gone.
I personally find New Romulus and its content to be relaxing, something I can solo at my leisure, and I can pursue completion of missions/assignments in the way I'm more interested in (ie, if I feel like combat, that's there, but if not, there's other things I can do). I love the ground alerts as well, plus its nice to see how cooperative people have been down there.
edit: And, really, I feel like I've got a reason to go along with my fleeties now. Usually I bow out of any of the Task Forces and such, but the Reputation System is far more appealing to me than the usual "pray for drops."
My fleet Excellsior could keep me happy for another 6 months, Q's winter Land and Frosty on Magic Hat Steroids is an added bonus! The Team outdid themselves!
And yes, there are bugs, but they are there with any evolving mmo.
