So I've heard that the Borg space weapons are no longer available, and confirmed by checking my own Task force Omega reputaion. Also, I heard the Borg proc was broken, nerfing it's effectiveness. So my question is, should I switch to fleet space weapons (or maybe the new Romulan space weapons when I get to tier 4) as the new top gear? And should I do this even against Borg npc, since the Borg proc apparently doesn't work well anyway? Would switching provide me with more DPS in the long run?

Neither the Borg, Romulan or fleet weapons are good choices due to the mods (though for PvE out of the choice given the Romulan and fleet weapons are better then the Borg.)

The Dmg x3 mods for fleet weapons are really only good for high firing rate weapons, such as turrets, cannons and maybe beam arrays. Certainly they're pretty worthless for projectile weapons.

Dual Heavy Cannons, dual beam banks and torpedos - Best mods are CrtD and CrtH - purchase them from the exchange or get them as drops.

Turrets, Cannons, Beam Arrays - Best mods are Dmg - Purchase those from the fleet store.

Romulan weapons are half and half. You've got a better selection of mods, but there's only two of them.

For pure PvE damage, I'd suspect the new Romulan weapons are probably the best atleast until the elite fleet weapons start showing up. The Plasma/disruptor proc combination is very good in PvE.

I'm not at my character to confirm this, but AFAIK the Borg weapons are still available, but just need unlocking in the Omega Rep store. And your old Borg weapons will remain if you have them.

The [Borg] proc isn't so much broken as so rare that its effect is negligible, and obviously they aren't useful against anything that isn't Borg, effectively making them decent Blue weapons that are (or at least were) cheaper to get than off the exchange.

With Season 7 the value prop's changed, but I can tell you that the majority of weaps I'm sticking on my ships are still [Borg], and since the investment costs for Fleet and the higher-end Rep weapons is very high, that may remain the case for the near future.

Unless they're unlisted and the devs have changed their mind the [Borg] space weapons are no longer obtainable. At all. There are no projects to unlock them and when questioned during testing one of the Devs (Borticus I think) stated unequivocally that they had deliberately removed those weapons because the [Borg] modifier had never worked the way it was intended to and that the Kinetic Damage proc had been reworked and added to the Omega Rep Tier as one of the optional power selections.

i went from the borg weapons (mk12 ap cannons/turrets, various torps) to advanced fleet some time ago and haven't looked back
the extra dps and and crit/acc mods help shred just about everything npc wise

supposedly when you get the starbase to t5 you can get elite fleet ship weapons . . .

I have switched my DHCs to [critd]x3 a long time ago.

Works fantastic. I have no intention of switching to the Fleet weapons.

I updated all my Escort's weaponry to Fleet DMG3 ACC and the difference is night and day. I would say go and do the upgrade.

For PvE, fleet weapons are, IMO, the way to go. For PvP, you'd be better off buying weapons off the exchange, because you need [acc] more than any other bonus. All the damage/crit bonuses in the world are useless if you can't hit your target. I'd recommend [acc]x2[CritH] or [acc]x3 for PvP.

Fleet weapons aren't as bad as some say they are, I have no problem guarding both sides in KASE with them and have time to fire a few shots at cubes/transformers on the way, or guarding all sides in CSE and still be able to shoot at nanite probes in between using 3 Fleet DHC, 1 Fleet quantum, and 3 Fleet turrets. My only other weapons are [Borg] or [Acc]x3 and neither work as good in STF for me. Finding all Mk XII weapons of the right damage type with all CrtD and CrtH on exchange can be hard so Fleet weapons are good option if you don't want to wait forever to find enough weapons of right damage type or switch damage types and have to get new consoles.
