# 1 MVAM Advanced Escort Build
12-16-2012, 06:39 AM
Hi guys... I've been cruising along for yonks in my MVAM Advanced Escort but have never asked for advice on its build... and seeing as I seem to be getting a lot of Invisitorp instadeath action of late, I thought I'd better do something about it. I'd be very appreciative of any advice.

Here's my current set up:

MACO Full Set (Engine, Shields, Deflector)

Fore Weapons:
Anti proton Dual bank MK XII Array
Quantum Torpedo MK XII

Antiproton Turret MK XII

Devices
Subspace Rebounder
Red Matter Capacitor

Consoles:
Engineering ? Neutronium Alloy, Monotanium Alloy (both Rare Mk XI)
Science ? MVAM, Power Insulator (Rare MK XI), Biofunction Monitor (Rare Mk XI)
Tactical ? 2 x Antiproton Mag Regulator (Rare Mk XI), Zero Point Quantum Chamber (Rare MK XI), Borg Universal Console

BOFF Powers:
Tactical: Beam Overload 1, Scatter Volley 1, Rapid Fire 2, Attack Pattern Omega, torpedo spread 1, High Yield 2, Fire at Will 1
Engineering: Emergency Power to Shield 1, Engineering Team 2
Science: Polarize Hull 1, Science Team 2, Scramble Sensors 2

Skills
Tactical:
Attack Patterns 9
Energy Weapons 9
Weapons Training 9
Projectile Weapons 9
Starship Manoeuvres 5
Targeting 5
Energy Specialization 9
Projectile Specialization 9.

Engineering:
Driver Coil 4
Structural Integrity
EPS 9
Armour reinforcement 1
Subsystem Repair 3
Hull plating 8
Hull repair 9
Warp Core efficiency 5
Warp Core potential 5
Shield Performance 9
Weapon performance 8

Science:
Power Insulators 3
Inertial dampers 3
Countermeasures 3
Shield emitters 6
Shield systems 9

Notes:
  • I intend to upgrade to Fleet Advanced Escort & transfer MVAM to it once Fleet hits Tier 4.
  • Saving towards upgrading Engineering consoles (2 x Neutronium or somethign more plasma orientated in one slot).
  • Thinking of switching back to Phasers (& relays), to benefit more from proc in MVAM mode.
  • Thinking of completing the new borg set (though I like my Quantum torpedo and will be sad to see it go.

Over to you good people of the Alpha Quadrant....

Thanks in advance.

Hoi :-)

to maximize your DPS get rid of the beams and the dual cannons.

Exchange them for Dual Heavy Cannons. On the aft, get another turret.

For Boff Powers:
get rid of the Beam Overload and Fire at Will. Get 2x Copies of Tactical Team 1. Get the highest Rapid Fire you can mount. Get Attack Pattern Omega 1.

2x Emergency power to shields.

1x Hazard Emitter to clear Plasma fire and Heal over time, 1 Transfer Shield Strengh to repair shields and buff resistance. Polarize Hull is good. Gravity Well is handy to have in STF's :-)

For Consoles:
Tactical: 4x Antiproton Mag Regulator
Science: Biofunction Monitor should be replaced by the Borg Console. Power Insulator should get replaced by the Field Generator ( http://www.stowiki.org/Science_Consoles )

I got the Maco shield and the borg engine/deflector.

I'm flying the Advanced Escort. It's a good looking an well performing ship :-) Will never upgrade to fleet or MVAM because I don't like their Boff Powers xD

Switch to an Odyssey, dedicate all of your boff skills to survivability, create a solomonic spell circle using pure salt from the Dead Sea with a nine foot diameter with your computer at the exact center and a triangle of conjuration where the screen is facing, sit in your chair and offer prayers to Vishnu, Amaterasu, Jehovah, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster, and you might have a slightly increased chance at avoiding Invisitorp instadeath.

To maximize your DPS, switch to either all dual cannons or all dual heavy cannons (dual cannons proc more, dual heavies get the most out of rapid fire and scatter volley) with just turrets at the back unless you can complete the borg set. Get rid of any skills that have to do with beams, make sure you have two cannon scatter volley and torpedo spread. I'd recommend switching to a regular advanced escort before you get the fleet version because it has slightly better stats and a better boff layout, and you can still equip the MVAM console. Omega set also does more DPS than MACO.

Yes I'm getting that vibe.

I think that's why I mixed dual and dual heavy.... to compromise the rate of fire and the damage dealt. The Borg Set cutting beam already fires forward like a turret with its 360 degree arc.

Working towards getting Omega as an alternative... managed to get engines XII before the system changed and am now halfway past Omega Rep 3... so hop[efully won't be too long.

Do I need to reconfigure my skill tree at all?

Thanks again.

Would you suggest going back to phaser and getting more relays to benefit from the proc when flying as three ships?

I don't know if the other pieces of your ships are using Phasers. If, then I would be perhaps better to switch to phaser. If you can afford it or if you want to afford it xD I don't really think that it will increase your dps that much xD For STF's Antiproton does more for your DPS than Phaser.

Scatter Volley itself is usefull to kill probes in KASE and get rid of the Plasma Torps from the cubes. And to kill the giant gates/transformators. Rapid fire does a lot more damage to a single target. Great for Donatra, CSE, Spheres and if you don't want to aggro the entire STF :-P

Yeah I know Antiproton is better for shield penetration. Alas the MVAM modules all fire photons and phasers whatever you equip yourself with (seems a bit daft.... would be so much better if they were equipped with the same weapons type that you have... although they have different AI boff abilities depending on which mode you use... with one slanted towards each profession).

It just seems a bit silly that when you are flying in the Alpha module you have your weapons set, then when you fly Beta or Gamma it suddenly doesn't have those weapons any more... the Starfleet engineering team managed to find time in mid combat, to rip out all of the weapons systems, the shields, deflector and engines... and replace them with standard fitting ones. LOL.

AP is good for improving your crit severity (you hit harder). Tetryon is better in stripping shields if that's what you mean.
