# 1 Tier 4 Omega Passives
12-21-2012, 11:21 PM
I conducted two tests on tribble against the first Terradome (Vice Admiral) ship in my Fleet Patrol Escort to test Omega Graviton Amplifer.

First Test: Did as much damage as possible to the ship until its reinforcements came.
Encounter Time: 2:33
Total Damage: 1.6 Million
Omega Graviton Damage: 15000 (0.93% of total damage)
Total Hits: 1121
Omega Graviton Hits: 20 (1.78%)
Total DPS: 10400
Omega Graviton DPS: 97

Second Test: Mainly just Rapid Fire and heals to get a better ratio for the Omega Graviton until the reinforcements came.
Encounter Time: 5:16
Total Damage: 2 Million
Omega Graviton Damage: 41000 (2.03% of total damage)
Total Hits: 2300
Omega Graviton Hits: 55 (2.39%)
Total DPS: 6400
Omega Graviton DPS: 130

Post I made elsewhere on Regen Passive:
On an Escort approx 260 so times that by four for each shield facing 1040/6 = 173.3333 (to get one second). Lets assume the enemy is doing 5000dps to you if so thats 5000-173.333 = 4826.667. 4826.667/5000*100 then take 100 and times that by -1. Which makes 3.5% Resist. Higher if the dps is less, lower if the dps is more, so its not terrible for a passive but it isn't anywhere near as good as the +30 to weapon damage.
Against borg and other NPCs however the passive would be as good as +30 weapon damage since borg don't do anywhere near 5000dps usally, was speaking from a PvP standpoint.

I think Regen wins...

Of course it does. Through-shield damage has to be higher than the target's ability to repair its hull, or it is just pointless - so you need to combine this passive with transphasic torpedoes, Directed Energy Modulation, Feedback Pulse and the like.

In other words: Only for very specialized builds. Which is why I would always prefer the shield regeneration - because you can use that everywhere.

Yeah, I agree its useless alone in PvP because of hull repair but I don't see why anyone would take it when its so small compared to the regen which will benefit you more in every case. It does also proc a bit more on a crusier (more hits per volley + cruiser do less damage improving the percentage of it) so people who only do STFs in crusiers and don't die might take it.
