Well...can't find much information on this boat. I guess not alot of people play it/like the look (personally, I'm digging on the whole "Floating Eyeboat" Anyway.

I'm an engineer captain, Already got my cruiser and escorts set up the way I want them, and thought I'd get started on a science boat. Oddly, I'ld like to be a sort of healboat/support vessel - For 200,000 Fleet Credits, it doesn't seem like too much of a hassle to nab one of these things, but I could use some help with some build advice for my aformentioned playstyle.

To my, uneducated eyes, it seems like it could get the job done nicely - what with the 3 science stations, 4 science slots, 4 engineer slots, and a engineer station. Turnrate and what have you doesn't seem to bad either.

I guess all in all, I'd just like some info on this little monster. Anyone got some thoughts they'd care to drop into the reply box - that would be lovely.

Hope ya'll had a wonderful apocalypse, and a better weekend. Thanks for any reply!

Edit: I realize the fleet versions is probably better, but not too keen on nabbing fleet modules for a ship I'll only be able to use on one toon - I'm not a hardcore min/maxer - but I do like to perform well in what I do.

It's a bit lackluster, stats-wise. Other than the LtCdr Engineer seat, it's worse off than the (fairly cheap Mirror) Deep Space Science Vessel, with lower hull and shields but the same tactical capabilities (and the same turn rate as the Mirror DSSV).

If you're willing to spend some Zen, the D'Kyr and Advanced Research Vessel Retrofit are tougher and have the same seating and console arrangement (the ARVR has a Lt Universal instead of a Lt Sci, though, in case you feel like switching it up a bit), though they sacrifice some maneuverability. The ARVR also has a Fleet variation that's even tougher, for about the same price as the C-Store version if you're only looking for a single character unlock anyway.

I wouldn't recommend buying it, the Advanced Research Science Vessel or Fleet version of that is basically better in every way except that it has a lower turn rate.

I'm starting to see a pattern here...

Every ship I like - is just garbage in game it seems. Guess, I'll start looking about at the other ships. Thanks for the info folks.

I found the Mirror DSSVs turn rate really helped a lot with keeping the shields up. And since they're a dime a dozen on the exchange I don't think it'll hurt to get one.

While some good points are being made against the ship, a full on science ship that can also run Eject Warp Plasma does have great CC potential.

I have the ship, and that is something I really like.

Enjoy flying it, though I tend to prefer my Wells, which can run a very similar boff layout, but with an eng ensign instead. Also, way superior shields, hull and better turn rate.

I own the Fleet Nova class and it's one of the best ships I've ever flown (Just loses out a little to my fleet Excelsior), As long as you use the Lt eng to it's fullest it's a great ship that (like the Excelsior) I would recommend to anyone.

Dude, if you want to use that boat, then go for it and learn to use it as is. There may be "better" in terms of raw stats, but if you learn to use it with all its disadvantages, then that make *you* a better player.

Which should be the goal for any game

Appreciate that. So many people tend to min/max to the end and even if something is 1% less then the top, it's considered garbage.

Not to say I'm not taking anyone's advice. I truely am. In the end, I may wind up just getting it and seeing what I can do with it. I didn't reread my first post so not sure if I made this clear or not - but I'm not much of a PvPer. And by not much I mean, never. I have never been one for PvP and the only game i actively PvP'd on was Warhammer (I miss my Warrior Priest)

What I am seeing is alot of the same thing I did when I considered buying a Galaxy-X. Alot of people had alot of negatives to say about the beast, but in the end, I went ahead and got one. Set it up like a beam boat and a tank and am damn proud of it.

When it comes down to it, I suppose my main problem is I like certain aesthetics of ship classes but can't figure out if it would be decently functional or not.

The PvE in this game isn't too challenging so I suppose the "Anything'll do" answer will crop up eventually - but I would still like to be able to pull my weight in the end.

Guess that's all I got for now. I really do appreciate any and all advice given thus far. From everyone. This is why I come here for my questions - you folks are knowledgeable.
