Except that when the captains in the ship he uses his powers... It's completely related to the ship.

No it isnt. A Science captain can use Subnucleonic beam regardless of weather he is in a best fit escort, crap fit science vessel or even a damn runabout.

If you want to discuss the necessity of having access to subnuc do it separately to discussions about ship fits.

This game is so simple there is no excuse for you to have your ship perform well in one area and poorly in the other unless you are deliberately penalising yourself by using plasma weapons (which I am, even then I often top damage done in pugs).

A properly fit PVE ship is damn similar to a properly built PVP ship the only difference between the 2 environments is that PVP REQUIRES teamwork.
lol, the person who has never pvped (im assuming) saying his ship is at 95% of its potential is calling me arrogant. not even i would say any of my ships are at 95%, and not just because i don't have all mkXII purple items, but also because i lack near perfect pilot skill. npcs don't have STF shields, plasma in pve isn't gimping yourself.

go ahead mister 95%, que up and show us how its done. if you really are that good you will enjoy the hell out of pvp. or you will learn a hard lesson about just how good you are.

but thats what the boot camp is for, to gain a more room temperature ship potential.

Ok I think this is my fault for not being very clear. My ship is optimised for PVE because that is what I do. Thats why I don't mind running plasma weapons or a scrub ship.

It is also about 95% optimised for PVP. Other than swapping the weapon damage type and replacing AP:B with AP:O there are no changes that would make it more effective.

If you actually want to contribute some useful information and begin a discussion about the differences between a PVE skill tree and a PVP skill tree i'll return and take part.

For ship fits there is very little real difference.

I'm sorry but there is a huge difference in what you use in pvp and pve. I really hope you do the pvp bootcamp and I'm your coach. I don't mean this in any bad way at all ill be the first to say that I'm not perfect in pve. But the difference in pve and pvp is the difference between the enterprise 1701 and the enterprise 1701-J. Now mind you a pvp build will be petter off then a pve build in a pvp game. For cruisers it's not that big of a difference, escorts have a little bit more of a change, a science ship is completely different.

Or people actually want to get better at the game.

And there's nothing wrong with giving incentive to participate in things.
