You need to run two copies of EPtS for a constant resistance buff. It's more or less a requirement.

I also highly recommend using a key bind that will distribute your shields for you. I have mine set to space bar, so I'm constantly distributing shields while firing weapons.

If any dev guy reads this for whatever reason, let me just ask a question... Is this what you (collectively) wanted? To see your most loyal fans, who were willing to offer help, who were wanting to improve the decency of a basic aspect of the game, completely stamped out? Is this what you wanted?

defense vs escort in a cruiser? well, the best way to deal with them is to kill them. short of that, control their movement, tractor them and evasive as soon as APO wears off, do whatever you can to limit their cannons on target(you) uptime. if they are stuck on your tail they are just asking for EWP too. if you use beams, use 2 copies of BO if you can, turrets? put 4 single cannons up front and use cannon rapid fire, as long as you can get them off your tail once and a wile.

defensibly you always want EPtS cycling, and when they start using tac buffs you want TSS and TT up and running. BFI doffs can be a great additional heal too, and if all thats cooling down RSP.

Just to time your defenses and remember how long they buff for so you sequence them to best help you.
For example Im fond of a TT, TSS (auxbuffed), EPTS and A2Sif chaser just before thier alpha.

I have been reading rather than commenting here as I have much to learn in pvp yet.

I do like tractoring escorts, and though I play defensive I do move straight to the escort that killed me last and put a tractor on him, so I know exactly where he is in the match.

Sometimes it means my death again, but when I say defensive I mean staying alive , yet doing what I can. I did like the target engines idea really, I haven't tried that yet, I've got target shields instead so that is a nice quick swap. I may swap out tet for polaron as that will further weaken engines, which against escorts I think may help more than shields? Although being able to negate their turn rate by removing shields on all sides + shield attacks, is a really nice boon, plus they often don't realise i'm doing it till its too late.

Thank you very much for this crash course. I do some of the things listed here but not many, some of the terms are also over my head but I am researching .

With your help I tanked 3 players in the arena successfully the other day in a wait for it... dreadnaught, it infuriated them all so much they just focused on me while the rest of the team killed the 2 they were engaged with, then whittled the three on me down to nothing . Then there was cussing and such at the end of the match as nobody was expecting it, but for the first time I survived like a tank and was very happy, overall my survivability has gone right up already. I thought i was finished when I saw the 3rd player on a 90 degree angle to me (2 behind) but just survived. To be able to hold two on me the whole match, while giving support where I can, is usually my aim at the moment.

All I need is to be able to draw fire like that alot, but that will be another thread down the line, how to make sure I am the main target of the pvp match. I find tractors, and venting warp out the rear helps to draw fire pretty quick. Also if you sit your hull on 90%+ ish people like to target you as you look weakened.
