I'm of the belief that the MACO shield, with its extra damage reduction and power levels proc is far better than the KHG shield, ignoring needing to get set bonuses. Now that both sides have the option of both shields (Admittedly at large expense), I'm tempted to swap to using the MACO shield. Thoughts?

The KHG three peice power does seem very much useless. And so it makes allot of sense to get the MACO shield, Thats what I've been planning to do.
Yes, it does stack. On my older account before it got hacked/messed up, I had both systems completed. THe Rom Passive does stack onto the KHG set.
So does that mean for a few seconds the KHG AoE cloak is also near impossible to see through? If so, alot of fun can be had with that.
Like AoE cloaking every KDF at respawn in Kerrat (not shooting) so all the feds believe we have left, then decloaking and attacking.
Much giggles.
MEF (the 3 piece KHG) was buffed a while back and is freaking awesome for PvP. As a panic button it can be cloak lite (you need to stop shooting) and is a sizeable source of def bonus. On a non-cloak ship at the start of an arena pug it can keep you from being the only KDF target when your team is picking targets and kicking their drunk weapons officer awake. Also it's AoE and as far as I know adds the def bonus to targetable projectiles, which is dastardly. IMO if you're a Jem HEC, Scourge, etc, and you plan to pug it's the way to go.
The 3 piece MACO bonus doesn't compete. Now the MACO shield itself (high cap and additional res is awesome, plus the power bonus on top of it) is good enough to compete even with the 3 piece KHG bonus, that's how good the shield is, IMO. As far as I can tell the res on the MACO is damage that just evaporates. Always on, can't be sub-nuc'd off, just keep a sliver of shield up.
I also can't quit the KHG cause I love me some hot restart.
And Roach, every KDF at the spawn would have to stop shooting, and IDK if you'd have to be on a team.
PvE go MACO (Adapted KHG) shield. Standard KHG engines for Tholians to reduce headaches. Neither 3 piece is a game changer for PvE IMO.
_______________ 4/4 Z-Store KDF Specific Bugs fixed! Thank you from the bottom of my wallet! I'm going to go buy some Zen points for a rainy day. Here's another batch about visuals.
For 1.0 and higher shield mod ships, I really like Adapted KHG (Fed MACO) in PvE. Solid capacity, very good regen, Resilient type to keep bleedthrough to the hull to a minimum, and proc that gives a small bit of power to everything that stacks up easily buffing nearly everything (including it's own resists and regens) add up to one heck of a tanking shield.
On my Fleet Tor'kaht it seems to really help my tankiness, even though I lost the 8.8 Aux from KHG --running MK XII Positron [SIF][Shds] for deflector, so only KHG engines left-- nerfing my A2S and HE a small bit.
Putting it on my Kar'fi was very nice, with the 1.2 Shield mod buffing the shields capacity and regen, plus being Resilient keeping the bleedthrough to it's hull to a minimum (very important with only a single Lt Engineer). Pulling the Kar'fi out of mothballs, I found the Adapted KHG shields the greatest boost to it's survivability (can be quite a glass cannon). Though, I had other things helping since its retirement Season 6, including Ept cooldown DOffs and a Leadership trait BOff.
I've been running the KHG shields and engines for the 2-piece bonus with the assimilated deflector for battlecruisering. Nets some pretty mad stat bonuses for hull health and regen, aux power, projectile damage, crew survival and regeneration rate, and a whole host of other little improvements. It's a great way to go depending on how useful any of that is to you.

I used to run that config pre-Season 7 on both my Fleet Tor'Kaht and Kar'fi. With the loss of the two-piece Borg bonus with the console being separated from that set the hull regen isn't there anymore(other than crew survival, which is a small difference, so far anyway). A Positron of the same Mark with [SIF] will net you more shields and better shield healing with the same Hull HP as the Assimlated Deflector, which balanced out better than +5 Aux on my Fleet Tor'Kaht at least and my Kar'fi seems to like the KHG deflector for sciency things, though it looses some Hull HP for it.
