# 1 Which ship to get rid of???
01-03-2013, 08:38 AM
I'm about to get my breen cruiser as soon as the game is up and running, but have no more ship slots. I'm somewhat of a sentimental soul, and so have still got all my previous ships, plus the Chimera, plus the 2 ships I got with EC's to get the tachyon inversion and hyperdrive cooldown consoles before they went in to the c-store as it was back then. Are either of those of any use or should I just chuck them? Think one's a nebula and I cant remember the other one.

I've heard rumblings of your old ships coming back to support you in a future mission, or is that a pipe-dream? If that is coming, I'll need to get rid of my little start-up ship.

I wish I had this advice last month:

"Only get rid of ships you've purchased from the Z-Store." -- Period. You can always reclaim them later. I made the mistake of deleting my Advanced Escort, only to find out that a replacement costs 120k dilithium!!! -.-

Just pony up some zen and buy new slots for ships. Dil to Zen conversion is cheap right now, so I would say there is never a better time to buy zen.

Yes, for future seasons, the Devs did entertain the idea of having your old ships coming support you in battle or go off on their own missions commanded by some of your BOFFs.

Blimey. That's a lot of dilithium. I mean, I would never get rid of any T5 ships, but I'm pretty sure the ones that came with the free consoles (if anyone can remember that far back) are Tier 3 or 4.

I'll get rid of them if I have to, don't think they've ever even flown, but I do like the look of the Nebula.

I've got plenty of Zen, just want to avoid spending it on ship slots if I have to. I've already spent an obscene amount on increasing inventory/bank space.

Thanks for the advice and the clarification of the Boff ideas. I knew I read it somewhere.

I have a ship from every tier on most of my characters. I fitted all my ship with the most advanced high mark equipent so that if they do go into battle for me, they might get to use those atributes from the gear. Maybe it might have an effect on how successful their own missions will be if the gear is top grade. Right now, things are like a "pecking order, hand me down" like process for how my ships are outfitted. My main ship, of course, get the "latest and greatest" gear and when newer great stuff comes out, the older great stuff gets passed down to the ship I deem second best in my fleet and same goes down the line for all my ships.

Yeah, stuff like the Thunderchild, or equally low ranked ships are easily dismissed and reaquired later. If you want to....

I don't know how many ship you have but here is what I have for my main character.

Tier 1 Constitution

Tier 2 Constitution

Tier 4 Galaxy

Tier 4 Venture (Galaxy Refit)

Tier 5 Sovereign

Tier 5 Nebula

Tier 5 Galaxy Retrofit

Tier 5 Excelsior Refit

Tier 5 Chimira

Tier 5 Galaxy Dreadnought (main ship)

I have added two more open slots with my dil converted to zen. I am making room for Breen ship and awaited Ambassador Class.

If you can reclaim it for free, or you are 100% sure you will never use it... Toss it.
My name may say "PWE member", but I will never be.
-NEVER Forget the Screwups and ignorance made towards the people who supported the game through 2011
Don't look silly, don't call it "Zen-Store" - Don't waste devs time, Post proper bug-reports - I don't like Gekos

Well, my own criteria when this comes up for me is the following:

1: Which ships am I using as my primary ships (immediate need for)?

2: Which ships do I have sentimental attachment to (RP or just 'favorite ship' status)?

3: Which ships which I don't have immediate need for and not attached to will I lose permanently if I discard them?

4: Which ships which I don't have immediate need for and not attached to will I be able to afford to replace without too much dilithium grinding if I decide later I want to re-purchase them.

5: Which ships which I don't have immediate need for and not attached to will I be able to reclaim later (Z-store account ships).

6: Which ships do I know I don't want to ever fly again.

In general, I will sort my ships into the above six catagories, then work from the bottom up until I have the number of slots I think I need. Also, depending on if you have multiple Z-store ships, you can opt to only have one slot for all the Z-store ships, repurchasing them and discarding them at need, though this is risking both that they keep Z-store repurchases free and that you don't get confused and sell the wrong ship and/or all its equipment.

NOTE: It may be worthwhile to keep a ship normally in the bottom pile if it has a larger number of slots (weapons, consoles, ect) as a storage space for gear than one on a higher spot, but only as long as both are not above 3. unless you are -very- certain you won't need the higher ship.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: There was some mention a while ago that the devs might bring out missions restricted by Tier of ship, similar to the Vault event, so you might want to consider holding onto or can easily obtain a ship for each Tier if you have the room to spare.
