Just what the title says. Not that I'm planning on leaving/getting kicked from my fleets, but I am kinda curious. Does it get auto-dismissed? Does it stay but become non-activatable at ship selectors 'till you join another fleet? Does it get downgraded to a "vanilla" version of the same ship?

No. It's yours. Forever.

Unless you dismiss the ship. Then it's gone. Forever. Unlike Z-store ships, Fleet ships cannot be reclaimed.

Well yes, there is that.

Altho given the cost, if the fleet ship you want has a t5 cstore version i think its worth buying the cstore version first. Since you will get the special console and the fleet version will only cost you an extra 5 bucks.

unless you get the fleet version of a Cstore ship, then it only costs 1/4h as much. well for T5 ships anyway. in the case of ships that are lower tier getting bumped up, your paying more than the Cstore ship.

Also not that if you leave a fleet everything you earned is retained.

You don't loose the credits, gear, or doff's you bought. All you loose is your place on the leader board.

Actually, even your place on the leaderboard stays. It just means any contributions you make in a new fleet apply to that fleets leaderboard starting from scratch and not the previous.
