Agree but I have to say the ship that should have one as per canon (maybe soft canon?) is the Chel Grett since the Breen are known to have cloaking technology. I'm really confused as to why it didn't come with a cloak.

Except it would be getting it for free, sure you can pay 2500 Zen and get it on selected ships as they are part of the package.

Yes, it would be less than the ship, but with the Defiant and Gal-X, you were getting the console AND the ship.
WRONG!

I am getting a ship with a console that CANNOT BE USED on another ship, Cloak only works on the Defiant-R and Galaxy-X.

With few exceptions VA ships in the Zen Store come with a unique console that can only be used on the ship it comes with, now T5 ships come with consoles that CAN be used on other ships.

This is like ripping off the Tal'Kyr Support Craft from the D'Kyr and giving it away with a "Dilithium cost" to be "fair".

Even they put those Transwarp Coils in the Dilithium Store they did not made the Excelsior irrelevant as they are consumables.

I'm sure that if PWE thinks they can get enough money for it, they will put it in.
And I show you back the "Dilithium cost" vs "Zen Points sale" ... mine was certainly brought with cash and PWE have no reasons to complain about me, the Reputation system exists so people go around doing dailies ... spending hours in the game, not spending Zen on it.

I would like to see a Phasing Cloak console with some sort of 10 second limit to it that makes you immune to fire. Maybe 10 seconds is a bit too long but like what ended with the Pegasus being stuck inside an asteroid and Picard adapting it to the Enterprise to get out of the asteroid. Clearly Starfleet has some secret projects that don't always fit within the lines of appropriate for the Federation.

That might be acceptable if and only if you can't fire while it's on. If enemy weapons can't hit you because you're out of phase, your weapons would be out of phase with them as well. That would make it too similar to the Ablative Armor though.

And I don't like Federation having a cloak. It just wouldn't make sense the way the game is to have every Federation ship with a cloaking device. The Romulans would have to be the stupidest species in the galaxy to give away the one and only advantage they have left. I could maybe possibly see the Romulans doing it IF you help them a lot more than Tier 5. And for example I mean like a Tier 10 project requiring 10 mil rep and 250k+ Dil. That would take so long to get to and so few people would actually spend that much time and money to get it that it would still be very very rare.

Or Cryptic could just add a "cloaking console" to the next LOCK-BOX!!!

I agree with the sentiment that Feds need to be severely limited in how much cloak they get. I mean guys, seriously? Think about this for a minute: You desire it as Feds because it is unique. That means the devs are doing something right. If it wasn't desirable, you wouldn't be going crazy over trying to get it, right?

Putting all canon reasoning aside, one of the the reasons why the KDF is attractive is because many of it's ships have cloak. Take that away and what are you left with? You're left with an empty shell because the KDF storyline is so short that the faction doesn't have very much going for it.

The most I could happening is section 31 stealing the cloak technology for use on a prototype ship. However, that prototype would probably be destroyed by the Tal Shiar for fear of the Federation becoming too powerful.
=^= Starfleet Code Red Message =^= Starfleet intelligence's central network was compromised by an insidious ARC virus. All captains are to avoid contact with the ARC until we can ascertain how dangerous it is. All ships remain on high alert!

No cloak let cryptic make new ships with unique abilities for the Feds, and stop beating this dead horse already.

As a sad yellow boy would say about this subject

I vote against this idea. Feds already got the KDF sets for "balance" purposes, and i think it's a huge mistake, it removed a good reason to play KDF (better ground equipment). I don't want to see this faction killed even more. If the devs don't offer a different experience to other factions then there's no point to create alts.

I started to play my main KDF char to try new stuff, new sets, new ships - because that faction was unique. Furthermore, feds already have the best tac and science ships! I know it because i'm flyig a vesta, and I have friends flying armittages and fleet defiants. KDF ships clearly have inferior stats because they have a little cloaking device.

If such a console was offered, giving it would require:
- a major overhaul/upgrade of kdf ships
- to have severe counterparts to this console: cloaking device but -15% shield cap and hull or something like that.

I'm against the idea but for all the wrong reasons. Frankly i'm in the camp of This is the future, and the cloak should reflect that. The preferred course of action would be that since we're at "war" with the Klingons or Tech sharing buddies (based on missions or possible ship designs) cloak should:

Availibility:

(Fed) SHOULD get cloak but it should be limited to one ship per class. Only one escort, one cruiser, one shuttle, and one science vessel should be able to equip them, Carriers not so much.

(Klink) if it has a bathroom, the Klingons would put a cloak on it

(Rom) same as above in case the Klingons are peeping

Advanced options:

(Fed) Intangibility. can pass through objects like ships and mines when cloak, but still takes damage "due to subatomic distortions" caused by normal anticloak shinies (just to keep it fair)

(Klinks) Cloaking field beacon. An AOE cloak effect which you drop like a turret but would cover other ships, shuttles, mines, allowing them to fire and be shielded since they're not powering the cloak. Maybe give it a 5km range?

(Rom) Perfect Cloak. the benefit here could be something like reduced energy weapons fire but greater damaged received while cloaked (again to keep it fair)

General:

1) all cloak would be battle cloak, otherwise it's kind of useless in a fight. Face it, it's canon, it turns on when i push a button, but in battle to do so it at your own risk.
If anything add a slightly bigger damage buff while adding a equal damage received to emphasize that.

2) basic klingon cloak is Current advanced cloak. Limit it to only non energy weapons to keep it from being OP, but anticloak measures are still as effective. Add similar buff/debuff here as well just to make it more risk with more reward

3) if the species has cloak (breen ship) make it so the ship doesn't come with the cloak but they can use one aqquired elsewhere in game

4) Again, it's decades since the last show or film, so the technology should reflect this. If our treaties are broken or our enemies allies against a greater threat, then let it reflect that. I say "If you make it, make it fair but make it fun."

Lame i know but still there's a lot of fun possibilities here and frankly the only way to kill the topic is to give in, but do so in a way that gives all sides something unique and fun.
