# 1 Java Plugin Security Risk FYI
01-12-2013, 08:24 AM
http://www.examiner.com/article/how-...y-java-warning

There's been another warning w/Java Browser plugins. For IE users there's apparently no easy way to disable java support, so may want to consider unistalling java.

Also, smart phone users may want to read up on what risks they may have.

Java isn't really my thing, so take my opinion w/a grain of salt and feel free to follow up if you have something constructive to add.

This warning is from "Examiner", an internet Tabloid? Oh wait, it's actually from here: http://www.us-cert.gov/cas/techalerts/TA13-010A.html

Meh, it's a relatively minor issue. It's slightly easier than tricking people to manually tell Java to execute "unsafe" code, but not a serious issue IMO. Avoid using unfamiliar Java applets. It's not the end of the internet....

MMOs aren't charities. Corporations are supposed to make a profit. It's what they do.

If a "trusted" website is hacked, all it takes is visting the site then not only is that PC at risk but potentionally anything else on one's home network.

I choose that link since it had thorough information on disabling java plugins for multiple browsers as well as uninstalling java from windows for IE users in decent non-tech speak.

Um, yeah... Trusted websites getting hacked have a whole lot more issues to worry about than Java applets....
