Some characters were stuck in a loading screen with a "Server Not Responding" message
While kinetic damage from all STF enemies absolutely needs a balance pass, it's extremely rare for any single attack to knock out a prepared player. Even Donatra.
Stupid double-taps, invisible torpedoes and back to back to back massive hits do happen, but once you get a feel for where the weapon arcs overlap you can avoid most of them.
To all of you saying "Just hit EPtS and RSP, and brace for impact":
This is the fleet tactical escort retrofit. When I've just used my abilities to repair my shields and get my hull back up from when it was being eaten by plasma fire, I don't have anything else to throw up. "Use tactical team dude" How does activating that help when it tore through all my shields and hull? The same goes for RSP.
Now I notice many of you focused on how I must be new and clueless, yet you didn't talk about my original point. I will say it again, a torpedo spread should not be capable of one shotting me through all shields and hull. The damage from it was ludicrous.
So please. Don't say "Your build sucks" because that is obviously not what I am talking about, nor does my build suck.
I completed a two-man ISE, CSE, KASE, and HSE. We are the Borg. Irrelevancy is irrelevant.
If you say banana slowly, you can hear the word gullible in it.
There's no Q in Star Trek.
Its rare for a spread to even kill a unbuffed player. And I fly a Fleet Defiant with 42k hull and 11k Shields. But even then, EptS is always running, Brace for Impact is exactly for those situations.
Its the endboss. So of course she should be strong, but putting aside a one-shot thalaron (fired 1sec after decloaking), I never died against her, even though I tend to get aggro even with a -threat console.
It was either bad luck, or just a user error. Nothing to do here
Sounds good. I only use the second method myself. We all know that when 'they' said they had removed the Borg's ability to score critical hits with torpedoes, what they really meant was that they removed the 'text' critical from the combat log.
Post revamp, I was getting waxed by 200k 'critical' hits. Now death knocks on my door when 'normal' torps hit me for 50, 16, 13 in quick succession.
So the discussion on gear and stuff is nice, but perhaps the tactics you guys brought up is more useful and it all boils down to not getting hit.
A normal plasma torp hits your BOP for 90k+. What resist % do you need to survive that? So for my dilithium, I'll just stay out of her firing arcs. Until the patch to give her the same torpedo firing arc that was given to cubes arrives. You know that's coming.
PS Just go in close and stun the heck our of her. Stay out of the forward arc and drop tricos every 30s. It's a cheap tactic and tricos are sure to be nerfed... but it's not PvP and Donatra hasn't complained to me yet.

Every boss in every game has one-shot abilities to force you to find glitches to kill it. STO is not different. Donatra doesn't have any rear torp. You should have no trouble to move with your escort. Furthermore, if you keep moving at max speed i hope you reach the +70% bonus defense cap. It's also a great help. When you're targeted or in her fore arc, keep moving.
If you can't then you can hit BFI or EPTS, it'll solve your issue. There is absolutely no reason to hold the aggro as a tac by the way, you have the flight speed to get out of trouble as soon as possible whenever you want. You can also ask for heal from your teammates flying cruisers.
There are many solutions. These abilities exist so that bosses aren't zerg fests you can gang in map corners. It's a necessity so that it's not just a matter of how big your cannons are. Those game have no interest if we just need to dps mobs like crazy till they die.
I hope it's clearer, and i hope you understand why we keep telling you it's how you play and not the game. We can all deal with that. If it's too hard for you then you can also stick to fleet actions, defera or infected space normal. Those one shot abilities don't exist there.
Looking at parses, Donatra's photon torp spread 3 goes for 3 or 4 photon torps coming your way in quick succession. Each worth 25k damage.
If by chance (for Donatra), your TT is in the 5s of CD and the UI lag prevents you from quickly cycling EPtS and use Brace for Impact, you're dead. The first 1 or 2 torps eat your shields, the rest send you to Gret'hor.
But more to the point, I don't think I ever noticed (even in parses) Donatra using Plasma torp spread.
When you see the spread icon on Donatra, just check your defenses are ready, if not: RUN.
It doesn't look like plasma, but every time I've ever been hit by it I've gotten plasma fire.
First I wanted to say it must be the unbuffed regular plasma torps, but...
Apologies, Donatra aparently uses both Plasma and Photon torp spread. I clearly wasn't watching well enough up until now.
So, it can be plasma spread III that hit you. A couple torps each worth 20k kinetic damage and a lot of plasma fire afterwards. I'd say it's even worse than the photon spread. 3 or 4 plasma DoTs from Donatra at once will burn you alive.
