Hmm these mines originally showed up about april 2012 in the lobi store from the ferengi lockbox. I've hardly ever seen them used in a pvp match I've been in they give off a giant purplish-pink bloom when they explode which looks unlike any other effect I've seen they have a standard 15sec cd- less with new mine doffs if it procs. So is it becoming an issue because people read about it in the forums and said "hmm maybe I'll try them out its not like they cost 200 lobi and are bind on pickup". Or is it something else?
BTW proud owner of the Ferengi set since it came out and fleetmates still managed to kill me most times when I used them. They give an extra shield damage,-shield regen per mine for 10 sec and allow shields to take extra damage but they never seemed overpowered or broken.

7/10 secs if not low around the norm, so the Question stands: They seem to be rarely seen unless groups of people run out to open boxes and get lobi to buy them to try out the next "OP" thing now. Unless i'm missing that a group of fleets are now using these in Private premade matches since tricos got nerfed. Or maybe we should ask the Devs to obliterate mines and Dispersal patterns all together? Then we can get to the really new OP thing that old breen cluster torpedo and Transphasic mines in general which partially bypass our shields, oh wait we already killed mines so no dispersal patterns needed OK, NEXT item cannons they shoot too fast and my shields cant stand up to them please nerf them too

Really they have been around almost a year then someone has them used against them to good effect to assist in removing shields because the mines by themselves cause No Kinetic Damage and now we should nerf it wow, just wow

These mines have been around for a long time, there is no disputing that. When they first came out, I'm sure people try to use them as some pay 2 win device but found out they weren't very effective.

You know what happened later? Oh yeah, a revamp of the mine weapons systems. That is why they are a problem now.

I placed the increase use of them in with the increased use of Trans Torps, Trans Clusters, and Trans Mines... with the advent of all the folks using the broken Elite Fleet Shield...

I just want to say I love radkips avatar and that I support my friend broken1981 in his estimation of these items. Anytime you see a guy ready to give up his own toys, you have to think that gives a good dose of credence to his faith in what he says.

20sec cooldown is standard for all mines except tricobalts-60sec/cloaking tractor mines-50secs
these have a 15sec CD but don't cause kinetic damage by themselves so this was probably seem as an acceptable trade off when they were designed.

actually tact mines can cause damage with dem passive. also dp cuts the cd to 12 secs. if you know how to chain it right you can keep spitting out op mines in clusters.
