From the artist: "and the phasers into smaller strips for ease of replace and fire."

In-universe, it has been said that the *long* phaser arrays on the galaxy's saucer are capable of sustaining a beam longer and more powerful because of the *LINKED* emitters in the array and that the heat from firing it can be more evenly distribute among them.

No matter the design, I feel like we should have extra parts for the Ody so we can have customization. We currently don't have any parts to swap out in the Ody.

I always thought the Deep Space Science Vessel designs looked like Starfleet ships with a Vulcan design aesthetic.

The most defining characteristic of large Vulcan ship design is the warp ring, as opposed to the dual-nacelle design of most other starships. Deep Space Science Vessels look weird as hell, but they don't sport the ring.

I'd say the most striking thing isn't the warp ring, but the needle-like hull.

Gotta agree with this.
I have looked at multiple times now.
I cannot see the attraction.

You see the same thing in a number of Federation ships, though, independent of Vulcan influence.

Yeah...feels like someone took a ship from another verse and threw a federation like saucer and deflector on it.

Players have said the Odyssey looks like a cruise ship star liner ....so someone made it look exactly like one.

I saw the front view and was like owww nice then I saw the side and thought.....ummmm is it a ship like from the Fifth element.

In my opinion I think if they did add a new variant to the Odyssey is should be subtle like the Excelsior is to the Enterprise B and not look like a completely new class.
