I think its not about buff or nerf, its about cryptic finally deciding what type of weapon torpedoes are. Because right now, if you would remove them, nothing would happen, because energy weapons work so well. And im not speaking about trics.

Something like:

Escorts -> energy weapon bursts / suplemental torpedo
Cruisers -> torpedo weapon bursts / constant medium energy weapon dps

Science -> something inbetween

Torpedos don't need a buff if you use them right and time your hy/spreads right they can be devastating

1.Mate if you could blow a tier 1 bop up with those things I would be really shocked most shields people use run a 20% resistance to plasma and most pug pvpers forget to put the correct armour in and run plasma resistance as standard

2. You can raise higher base damage from a correctly placed photon/quantum than those "gimmick" spam balls

I kind of like the idea if shield facing is less than 10% of capacity, torpedo bypasses or blows through shield. Not a huge change, but enough of a window to not be rare hull hits.

i find it hilarious that someone so smug knows so little. HY plasmas are knetic damage, any plasma torpedo deals kinetic damage. its a torp for crying out loud. the only plasma damage it deals is directly to the hull in the form of a DOT after impact. i dout you would find a unshootdownable HY omega that deals 40k damage+ very funny when delivered properly.

The first thing torpedos need to become decent weapon choices is a blanket increase to 50% shield penetration.

At least this is more canon than no damage to shields.

The underlying design that torpedoes should be for hull and energy weapons for shields is a poor, overused design that has no real place in any decent game. It inhibits certain weapon systems needlessly.

Smug no just couldn't stop laughing at the guy who thinks he can take the strongest single ship in the game down with a gimmick torp

Attack pattern alpha III fommIII Beta III and a critdx3 quant can supply you with those numbers try it

Plus that's a crit the rest of the time the hideous things land for 1200 damage I have a grav well that ticks for more

Oh and your knowledge of the English language is great too "unshootdownable" come on

For someone with a SIG stating respect for opinions, u show very little of it.
As for jemmies being a hard ship to kill, yes ... he got me 4 times, i got him 2 ... his mistake, not havin sci-team to clear my sub-nuc in a pug match.

As for saying the torpedoes in their basic for need a buff , still a yes on that count.
There are various ways to do just that, it all depends on how it changes and what changes with it, as there are various roads to do it, as i dont see a flat damage increase fixing the problem.

Order of likelyhood
1. Magazine style shooting, like DDIS sugested
2. Wide angle shooting for regular fire, narrow arc for THY/TS
3. Let the impact damage rollover thru the shieldfacing it just overpowered.
4. Fix critical hits to shields so it works logically (no magic shield-slivers keeping away 90% explosion damage)
5. Fix angles on ship types based on size & turnrate, 45 escorts, 90 sci, 180 cruiser

thats nice, its one thing to stack all that on an stf transformer, but no one who inst asleep in pvp is gonna be hit with all that. i'll just lazily get single hit numbers like that without full tac buffs or anything with HY omega. crits are as common as good hull hits anymore, especially with the rom boffs and the 3 crit consoles. even if it does hit shields, the plasma fire does more good that any quantum to shield hit would. the rom spam torp? thats really just for spam and plasma fires, a joke weapon. but the HY omega torp is a viable, if not often hazardous to user, weapon.

you think unshootdownable is bad, wait till you notice i don't bother capitalizing anything. might be because this is a stupid web forum and im unable to care a whole lot about such things. its amusing you do though.

those are all good. torps don't need a damage buff of any kind vs hull, no one is asking for a buff like that, when it hits its perfectly fine. how they deal damage against shields is the main problem
